rjeffrey To flipisle; I live in central ohio and I have found Hocking state forest in Hocking County to be great place to hunt. There are over 3 thousand acres of public hunting land. There may be counties that have more deer taken than Hocking county but if you divide the square miles of each county by the number of deer harvested in each county you will find that hocking county and Perry county average 9.9 deer taken per square mile. There are some monster bucks available to any good hunter. While on a scouting trip I counted 65 deer in one day when I first moved here. I did not have any camos on and wasn't being real quiet. I have taken 33 deer here in 13 seasons. 17 Bucks.

rjeffrey left lung. When he fell on his left side his massive body weight had compressed his wound letting it clot. Although the ground had an impressive amount of blood he had actually stopped bleeding. If he had ran a little it would have caused him to bleed out but falling in the spot of the hit helped him to clot. I never figured out why he could not move as my arrow did not hit any where near the spine. Two things amaze me about this day. One I actually got close enough to shoot him (with a little help from the doe) and two I shot this buck twice, with the same arrow. I do believe not many hunters can say they have shot the same deer twice with the same arrow. I was going to retire the arrow but on the last day of bow season I used the arrow to take a doe. What a hunt.

rjeffrey I hunt from the ground. I stalk my deer. There is no greater thrill than to sneak up to within 20 yards from a trophy buck that has no idea you are there. I once spotted an 8 point hanging around 6 does about 300 yards away. There was no wind to hide my sounds and the leaves were extremely brittle. I was sure that I could not get into range but I wanted to see how close I could get. These deer were on one hill and I was on another hill. It took me almost three hours to get within 80 yards. I didn't think it was going to be possible to get close enough. Over the next 30 minutes I closed in to 40 yards. The ground was thick with undergrowth and I could not get a clear shot. I had run out of trees to hide behind and it seemed as though I was not going to get any closer. Just as it seemed impossible the buck started chasing one of the does. She ran around in a circle and to my surprise ran right in front of me within 20 yards. The buck was in hot pursuit. The doe ran right past me back to the thick area where she had been. The buck was running inches behind her. He stopped right in front of my at 20 yards. He was watching her and the other does and never saw me step out from behind my hiding spot. I drew the bow back and stepped out, locked down and let the arrow fly. It looked like a perfect shot. The buck dropped like a brick. I could see the arrow had passed through and the blood spot in the perfect location. I waited for 30 minutes but the deer had not expired. I was confused as to why. The shot was perfect. The buck acted like he was paralyzed or something, but he was definately alive. I waited another 30 minutes and realized that he could not move anything other than his head. I slowly crept up on him with my arrow drew back. When I got up on top of him I picked up the original arrow, renocked it and shot him in the heart. He passed a minute later. Upon field dressing this monster I realized that my first arrow had gone through his
