Well I just got the Feb/March issue of North American Hunter and in it is an article about DND's Haint Gobbler call.  I had always though gobbler calls were a no-no in spring seasons.  The article does give a sidebar to the safety issues related to using the call but I wanted to know what other readers and members thought of the thing.  Thanks.  (I'm not affiliated with DND, NHC (except as a member), and being from Idaho, am only a sometimes Turkey Hunter, but I am looking for what ever I can to improve my odds with the sparse bird population in our state).

I am from PA and we have a good number of turkeys and also a lot of hunters pursuing them. In no way would I attempt to use a gobbler call in my locale. It is a good way to get shot around here. Secondly around here the only gobbler that may respond to a gobbler call would be the boss gobbler. Any other gobbler has already been whipped and will not come to a gobbler call. Likely they will head the other way. Just my opinion though.

Agree with the Ridge Runner....I have used a gobble call occassionally but only on private land with exclusive rights.
I have had more success with fightining purr call than gobble but only early while they may still be sorting out who is in charge.

Just more crap that you really don't need to kill a bird , but its more sales and money in their pocket.
