I need some suggestions for a rifle scope for a 30-06 that is made in the USA. So far every scope I have looked at has made in china stamped on it.

I couldn't agree with you more paul. Shopping at Wal-Mart has killed American jobs. That's why I am a Case, Ontario Knife fan and some of Buck knives. Mossberg says they are American made , but if you look at where their new plant is I am betting they use a lot of Mexican work force. Redfield may be assembled in the U.S. but their optics are made in Asia and I am pretty sure most of Bushnell are china made.I don't know if there is a 100% American made optic's company.

Checkout the website I gave as it is American owned, operated, and the parts are ALL Amercian as well. This is the company that supplied ( Vietnam Republic of ) and still supplies the best optics to our military today. Check it out as the best was invented and made for our snipers.

Leupold, red field, trijicon and some Burris are the only American scopes I know of. Bushnell is an American company but makes their scopes overseas

I believe Vortex Optics are made in the United States.

I'm considering one over a German made optic but I'll probably stick with the German made one.

You mean MOST Burris scopes? Redfield (owned by Leupold) is not made in America, they are assembled here. Trijicon also outsources for material.

Why would a Japanese company such as Nikon use Zeiss glass? Also, Leupold uses Japanese glass as well.

I know for a fact that Burris and Leupold use Japanese glass. Zeiss is not the best glass in the world. That has been argued and is a matter of personal opinion. Japanese glass is some of the finest glass in the world. German glass is quality most of the time. I just think it is a little over rated.

And your link to what Zeiss does proves nothing about who uses who's glass. I would suggest you check your source of information.

All depends on on your budget. Best in my opinion for a great affordable glass is Burris. If you dont have a budget then I would go with Zeiss. In my opinion they are the best.

I understand Vortex is US made, and I think their Viper product is first class. Leupold VX- III, Leupold Europeans, and their new VX-R are optics I also employ in shooting. Both are purported to be US made. Those are two brands and specific models I would not hesitate to recommend.
