Whenever I go hunting it is either with my cousin or my dad, the problem with this is that I have to use one of their rifles which is kind of uncomfortable to me because my dad has 2 Marlin 30-30s that I can't quite get comfortable using. My cousin though has somewhere around 20 rifles but the only ones I can use are the .22 LRs or the 30-30, which again I have comfort issues and I heard that you can't use the .22 LR to hunt deer with anymore. I just need to know where in Ky I could find a good rifle that is affordable, I'm comfortable with .223, .243, .270, .22-250, .30-06, and .308s. Any help will be thankful.

What makes you unhappy with the 30-30.
Most pawn shops have rifles in them. Used ones are cheaper. Just be careful what you buy. If it looks like crap it has not been taken care of.

I'm not so sure what it is about the 30-30, but I just can't get comfortable with it. I know that 30-30s are nice reliable hunting rifles, but for some reson I'm just looking for something else.

Marlin model X7 price is about $400 dollars and it is a smooth shooting pretty accurate gun 30-06 165 grain core lokts hold about a half inch at 100 yard.It comes in many diffrent calibers.270s 30-06s and 308s may be some of the best but you can't go wrong with a 25-06 it has power for big game and velocity for varmits.

Walmart had some pretty good deals on hunting rifles just recently as I bought a remington 700ADL series in a 30-06 for my wife for less than 400.oo with a scope and hard case
