I've been bowhunting for a few years and wasted way to much money an bad broadheads. I'm getting a new bow soon and wanted to know what is the best broadhead, reasonably priced of course. Mechanical or fixed? 2, 3, or 4 blade? muzzy? Rage? any help would be greatly appriciated! thanks!

You're going to get a lot of opinions on this, mine is to get a fixed blade broadhead that flies just like your field points. My personal favorite is the Magnus Stinger Buzzcut it flies like my field points and is devistating on game not to mention it has a lifetime warranty. My BIL loves Muzzy and they are good broadheads they just don't fly well out of my setup. With mechanicals you never know whether or not they are going to open so I just don't trust them, but that's just my opinion.

i'm a fixed blade person myself.i have used muzzy blades for years and with no complaints.make sure your bow is tuned for them and the correct spined arrow for your bow.i know many people use mech blades and have good success with them.i'm just not a fan.

I use Muzzy MX3 heads. I've never heard the deer I've taken say anything bad about them..  but of course their time is very limited after they experience them.

Blazer vanes are the way to go especially with fixed broadheads. I shoot 85gr 3 blade Spitfire Mechanicals and love them.

I shoot Slick Tricks (which are fixed blades) 100 grain. Great broadheads! They fly just like a field tip, which is pretty helpful when sighting in your bow.

Ive used several types of broad heads over the years! I used thunderheads for ever, then muzzys and,  recently a few years ago i bought some rage broadheads! All three are great broadheads very sharp and strong never had one come apart on me. Yet all very differently priced. If you want to spend the money for three broad heads and the practice tip the rage is the way to go!!! Ill never use another broadhead as long as i have the money for them, about $40-$50 depending where you buy them for only three versus 6 for the same price of a different head! The two blade expadable blades leave the largest wound ive ever seen, im thinking they should make rifle shells next!!! A walking blood trail on all of the deer ive shot with them over the past 4 years.

There all good broadheads, its a prefference really! Iwould say muzzy for a fixed blade would be the best and rage if you like "mechanical" broadheads! The choice is yours!!!!!

As everyone here is saying, as long as they are sharp and fly true they will do the trick. You could spend $100 for a broad head and it will not fly well or as little as $ 20 and love then its a personal choice. I have had no problem with the Gold tips, they are mechanical and they have opened up and done their job. Do I look at others , by far. Just have not found any that I like as of yet.

    Q. What is the best broadhead? Hard question easy answer. The best broadhead is the one that when you're in the store looking at rows of broadheads looks the best to you and then performs well while shooting. There is no magic best broadhead. Ask a hundred bowhunters (oh you already did that) and you'll get a hundred different answers. So how do you choose which one of the hundreds out there? Go to a proshop and ask if he has any broadheads you can try on his range fixed mechanical or magical(lol). I have six friends like me who are diehard bowhunters each of us shoots different brands and weights of broadheads and we all have killed a bunch of deer with them. The most compelling thing in choice of a broadhead is that you have faith in it; if you don't have faith in it it will never work for you. Choosing a broadhead is a lot like choosing socks there's a ton of em out there but only a couple that are suitable for you.

I love the Rage 2 blade.  It puts a hole in the animal like you hit it with a hatchet!  Leaves a blood trail like a bucket and ladle, and flies true with my carbons and shrink wrapped vanes.  I shoot alot of hogs down here in Florida, and they do the job on them as well as whitetails.  Practice with the practice head that they give you to make sure your arrows fly straight before you hunt with them.

lot's of good advice here! man, i've tried a bunch of bh's! 125g muzzy 4 blades, 100g muzzy mx-3's, 100g grim reapers, some little disposable 3 bladed deal i can't even remember the name of, and i currently use 100g rage 2 blade. i personally like fixed blades because, you know they're gonna cut. there's no mechanical probability to worry about, but, fixed can, but not alway's be finicky to tune to your setup. as in my case. the 125 4 bade muzzy's worked just fine out of my old jennings titan, but when i bought my parker wildfire, i went to 100g tips. i tried the grim reapers, and was highly dissapointed with thier performance. no pass though = no blood trail. got a buddy that swears by muzzy's so bought a pack of mx-3's. i did shoot a buck with them, but that was just luck. after sharpening the blades, i shot the same arrow with the same bh, and missed one doe altogether 1 day, and another day i grazed another doe. so far, rage has been the ticket for me. i've shot 4 deer and recovered 3. i'm not sure what happened on the 4th. i know i smacked her right square in the shoulder and got good penatration (around 7-8") but just didn't find anything to follow even though we looked for, gosh, at least 8 hrs. the 3 i recovered however, were easy and short blood trails. ray charles coulda followed em! another little trick to those rage's is, when you buy a pack, use the practice tip to pratice and make sure they work for you, and then take out the practice blades and put in a set of hunting blades. they work just fine! and it gives you an extra hunting tip. good luck!

Rage 3 blade. Anything that is sharp and flies accurately out of your setup will be fine though. Just remember you get what you pay for, so if you swing by some box store on the way to go hunt and pick up a box of "Fishy Jo-Bob's Broadheads" for $14.99 a gross it probably aint gonna work. Invest in a quality broadhead like Muzzy, Rage, etc and you'll be much happier. Without a good broadhead you may as well just throw a stick at 'em so it's worth the money IMHO
