I am assuming you are pricing a deer shoulder mount out. Depends on where you are gonna get it mounted. West coast and East coast seem to be a lot higher then the Midwest. I dont think I have ever seen a taxidermist in South Dakota thats about 450.  Average is closer to 375.

With insurance, I got a $4500 shipping fee coming up from RSA.....that plus taxidermy there totals $6500.....just over what two US import taxidermist quoted me for the 14-foot Croc alone.....and there are six animals in shipment.....I don't know any US taxidermist who are going broke because of charging too little....

I just got a quote from a taxidermist for almost $3K for a full body Blackbuck mount in TX....got a full body African Lion done in Zimbabwe for half that.....got a shipment arriving from RSA in next few weeks....full half body of a 14' Croc leaping out of water, shoulder mount Chobe Bushbuck, 12 Hippo teeth on a plaque, yellowbill duck, Euro Gemsbok amd Springbok, Cape Bufalo skull....taxidermy bill was $2000. Also included is full body mount on Sharps Grysbok but my skin is slipping hair and he is awaiting finding another skin at no additional cost....
