A lot of states have minimum age laws for knives, cigarettes, hunting & fishing licenses, etc. Not uncommon at all. I don't believe in such laws, but they're not my fight anymore.
Young people need to fight these battles. When I was 16, I was very much involved with the fight to lower the drinking age in my state to 18. We got it done. By the time I hit 30 they raised it back up to 21. Young people let it happen. They should've protested like heck to stop that.

I'm on the fence with this... When I see and talk to some folks, I think that 35 is too young for them to hae a knife. TRUST me here, you should see some of the winners that will come grab one at a show. Ten, I meet a kid who is 12 and I would not have any concern with having a knife.

Just proves age has nothing to do with responsibility and the law prevents qualified, responsible people from exercising their freedoms.

Knives, gun, bows they all should have a common since test to purchase them. Problem is the test would be given by some idiot at Walmart that could not tell you the differance between a straight blade and a folding lock blade. |

I bought my first hunting knife (fixed bade) when I was about six , my father taught me to sharpen it and safety rules I did the same for my son when he wanted his own at 10 .Could it be we are seeing a skip in generations of outdoors people who had no one to teach them ? I'm with Brian om this though. It may sound strange but for safetys sake I sometimes wish that we a national safety class before you purchase a firearm or knife, although my mother, may she rest, in piece cut her self constantly in the kitchen.Come to think of it we now have Hunter Safety courses in most states although there is a cutoff age where some of these dummies are grandfathered in. Hmmm |

CAREFUL there, I'm "Grandfathered"....LOL One thing I decided when I made up mu mid to offer knves. I would NOT sell a folding knife that was NOT at least a lock blade. Even those little blades I offered on a "special deal" awhile back were lock baldes. Beyand that, the rest of the knves are fixed blades. i STILL cringe though when ANYONE comes up and wants to handle a knife. As you know, I keep them SHARP, and too often I see some guy come along, run his thmb or finger lengthwise down the blade and get cut before saying.."WOW, THAT'S SHARP!!!". I just want to smack him and say "WELL> DUH!!!" |

Ridiculous is having to be 18 to buy paintballs or a paintball gun, when most people who play it are under that age. |

I know how you feel Brian I'm Granfathered in too. Still refusing to join AARP feel like its submission to society. Had a friend a while back (he'll be 90 in October and still goes bowhunting) bring me his hunting knife to sharpen for him cause he says he can't get it sharp as mine. After he watched me sharpen it he wanted to rub some oil on the edge so it wouldn't rust, yup you guessed it laid it right open and then did it again when he tried to oil the other side. LOL |

YUP, old hands get tender, best thing to do for guys like that are to handle it all for them (If they will let you) After that, keep the bandages handy. |
