Submissive urination is your dog showing his submission to the leader of the pack. Your dog knows his place and the only correction he probably needs is a simple but firm no, praise him excitedly for things he does right, kneel to his level to greet him. Change your relationship from dominant/submissive to leader/follower. Springers can be very hard headed so becoming overbearing is easy with them. Read about building raport skills with your dog and both of you will better understand what is expected from one another. Lastly never chastise the dog for this problem, it can only make it worse.
Nothing better than a spinger flushing birds. Nahc Lm

Just had to have my Springer put to sleep, after 13 years of being my hunting buddy. Will say this about Springers: if you're heavy-handed & harsh with the discipline, you'll ruin the dog. Lots of praise and patience will give you a fabulous Grouse dog and enjoyable companion.

Is your dog 'Fixed"? I've found that dogs who aren't neutered will urine mark constantly. Mine did - was always amazed that he had enough in his bladder to mark every tree, rock, couch, chair we stumbled onto. And if he's kept alone for long periods, seem to pee everywhere also.
