Hello everyone!

The last photo I wanted to upload did not load. But it was just showing that all around us is corn fields, even around a stone quarry just to the NNE of us. The deer use our property to bed down at night and even to take a nap during the day sometimes. There is an old abandoned Rail Road bed that runs between our property and the farm fields. The deer like to bed down there and also use that as a trail. There is an old drive way which is now a drainage ditch that runs the length of our North - East border. The deer like to use that in the day as their nap spot, especially behind the shed of our neighbor whose property adjoins ours.

The side of our property by the neighbor with the pool, the deer love to just lay out in the grass when it is high and sleep at night. They will even come out in the day and lay down. That was the spot where I was thinking of putting a small food plot, about 100' x 100' , just under 1/4 acre. The spot in the corner by the garden has at least 1 big boulder in the ground that is too big to move, and is WAY TOO CLOSE to the garden! About the Boulder, we did try to dig it up and move it when we cleared that area out, but the boulder is too deep and big. So we recovered it. There is another one, I think, do not know if it part of the Big Boulder or a separate one.

We are limited in spots to put a small food plot. We were thinking of putting a 'honey hole" type one on the old Rail road bed, but the ground is not very good I think. Weeds grow good, but I do not know if food plot type plants would grow well there or not.

Take a look at Whitetail Institute's No Plow. I had great success with this product last year, even in plots with low pH levels. I plan on planting a llot more of this in the future. Another great product is the Secret Spot. Both can be planted with noting but hand tools.

Good Luck!!!

Hello everyone!

I just remembered one other spot that would make a good spot for a "honey hole" food plot. That is in the weeds between the evergreens and the railroad bed and between the 2 middle paths we made.  That area gets decent sun and is somewhat clear of trees and brush in the one area. Just needs to be sprayed for weeds, cut and tilled under and then planted. See what my dad says. It would just be a small area a little less than a 1/8 acre, probably less. But if I made 2 plots it would equal out to between 1/8 - 1/4 acres .

I will look at the "No Plow" and "Secret Plot" for the 2 spots I have in mind. The only problem I foresee is plots would be really close to Black Walnut trees.
