This is a great addition to the club. It was much needed so thanks Huntingvet and Chad. I am not disabled but would help anybody get back into the outdoors. This should be a great improvement! Once known as 3does,1buck pre-"upgrade" :

Thanks Chad I do not want to say i am disabled. But i have had to change my ways of hunting do to cancer and two heart attacks. My heart goes out to all of the disabled. They are the hero's in my mind and true sportsmen. Always watch your back trail.

OK huntingvet you asked for it now you got it but the important question is what are you gonna do with it ? I had posted here well over a year ago about US the members of NAHC Chartering a 501C charity corporation for disabled Club members. I asked on this BB if other members would be willing to help fill the first board of directors ? I got one response from a member agreeing ( I thanked him for his support and offer ) to be on the charter board for the proposed org. This forum is great as it helps with info and to spread the word about hunting with disabilities. We could have a vote on a name for our organization and fill the first board with volunteers from our membership rolls. It would consist of the ususal suspects ie... President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, etc. etc. So now the biggie ! Any volunteers with dedication as it will take that and the support of the rest to make this a success. ALL THE WAY ! NEVER QUIT !! NO MAN SHALL BE LEFT BEHIND !!! Big Dawg – You sound a lot like me. I’ve had such a MASTER PLAN on the back burner for a long time. When I was first disabled 20+ years ago, I worried that my hunting and fishing days were over forever. It was back then that I first thought of an organization with focus on sportsmen with limitations. I did try to organize (all I ask for is a….)A SPORTING CHANCE and found very few people wanting to work to see it a reality. If enough people just sit back and do nothing waiting and hoping for something like this to happen, it will not. So I approached the few organized programs in existence back then to start a charter in my area using their tax umbrella. They all declined for various reasons. I see today some of them did branch out to other states while keeping tight control. Then I tried hooking up with three different national organizations that said they wanted a program in my area. What they wanted was to become richer through the means of recruiting new members and selling magazine subscriptions under the pretense of an annual banquet/auction fundraiser. The percentage returns for the efforts were poor to say it mildly. My absolutely last attempt is underway. I am initiating a DISABLED SPORTSMEN PROGRAM at a gun club (rochesterbrooks.org) here in the Rochester / Monroe County area. My vision is to partner with other outdoors groups to stage hunting, fishing, and shooting opportunities for people with limitations due to disability or age. Education is the key to show how assess to the outdoors can happen. Once we find it can be done with others, we may attempt to try it by ourselves or with family and friends for the full season. After all, to give us a day out there is nice but to teach us how to be out there builds confidence and self-reliance through independence. If this doesn’t work out, I will go it alone. I have my ATV for the woods and friends with bass boats in which to fish. I won’t hang up my (rods and) guns until the last minute. Okay, what’s your plan? Like huntngivet, I’d like to know what is to be the purpose of GIMPS’ R US. Please be specific. That is the only way people like me can analyze the merit and judge whether or not to become involved. The best part of starting an org such as this is WE can make it whatever the board decides what we WANT it to be. The first step is to see just how many are willing to get involved and to what degree of involvement they are offering. Once a board has been filled then the next step is to fillout the required paperwork and file for corporation 501C status. If we get this far the rest will fall into place as we move forward. It is apparent we are like minded on this but no need for all the muss and fuss if we haven't even organized a board and plan of action which would be one of the yearly requirements. So it must be decided by the interested ones to figure out just how involved one is willing to get. Without DEDICATION and at least a yearly COMMITTMENT from the board members it will be alost cause and I don't like losing. So the question remains who will step forward to fill the charter board and get this started. Most everyone should have my email address and if not it is bigdawgwalls@yahoo.com and I look forward to hearing everyone's ideas. ALL THE WAY ! NEVER QUIT !! NO MAN SHALL BE LEFT BEHIND !!!
