Count me in (yes). I have been a member for a short time. I'll help out when ever possible. This season wasn't the best, but let us all see if we all can make this the best sight ever. And lets hope and pray that next white tail season will be the best for All!!

Hi All,

            A week or so ago we asked for volunteers to take part in a survey regarding forum use, features, etc.  We would like to share some of those results with you. 

 

-         Almost 70% of you visit the forums 3 or more times a week

-         93% of you have been members for at least a year

-         The #1 problem you have with the forums is  site speed

-         About 30% of you participate only on our forums and not the rest of the huntingclub.com site

 

As far as features go, important features (those where at least 50% of the members rated as important or extremely important):

- Keeping your usernames
- Ability to attach/post images was the most important.

- User Reputation one of the top requests

- Ability to sort topics by various criteria on a personal level

- Private Messaging

- Signatures

- Jump to last post

- New posts since last visit

 

Not as important (where 30%-50% of responses where important or extremely important):

-         Online member directory and a “who’s online now” also rated important.

-         Ability to rate topics

-         Emoticons

-         Photo Albums

-         Keeping Post counts

-         Keeping all older posts

 

Thanks to everyone who took part in the survey!  With that, we have set up a forum, and the good news is, almost all of these items will be included at launch!  The omissions are, private messaging may not be ready at launch, but is a “must-have” so would follow suit almost immediately after launch.  There just may be some technical difficulties rolling that out at launch as we need the users on board before turning that on.  Photo albums won’t be available with launch, and no real plan to add as it wasn’t in the “important” category based on survey results.  That said, it’s still open for discussion, and the ability to post images in line or as attachments should negate that request some anyways. 

 

And that’s it. Every other item will be included at launch.  We will be sending Private Messages from this forum to those who volunteered to test with the link to get to the forums.  Some things may be tricky to find, so we will add some notes to a “Test” Thread on the board, and we ask that when testing you only actually post comments in the “Test” categories.  This way we can remove those easily once the board kicks on for the entire crowd.  In terms of the look and feel, we still may tinker with that a bit, and will look to you guys for suggestions on colors, font sizes and styles, etc.

Thank You very much for your support in helping with the updates of the forums and website. The updates have now been made since this discussion has started and we look forward to starting a new technical help Q&A section that will guide new users through the basics of updating their avatar, signature, posting pictures, quoting previous posts and so on.

As we all become more familiar with the new system there will be some of us leading the pack with new ways to use this software while others will be asking questions that haven't been covered. Once the technical Q&A discussions are up, any assistance you could provide to help newer posters to the system would be greatly appreciated.
