Hunting with Bill Miller

It’s with great disappointment I have to announce that the much-anticipated Paralyzed Veterans of America/Armed Forces Entertainment Outdoor Legends Tour to meet and greet servicemen and women in Southwest Asia has been postponed—at least a portion of it.

In preparation for the long flights and anticipated sleepless nights on the PVA/AFE Outdoor Legends Tour to visit our servicemen and women in Southwest Asia, I was stalking the aisle of a favorite used book store last week.

Thinking again about what to say to the troops, I had an epiphany: Why not ask NAHC members directly what messages you want me to take to the troops? Seeing as we’ll be there representing America’s hunters and fishermen, as well as the outdoor industry, it makes perfect sense that the messages come from you!

This “Hunting with Bill Miller” post is going to leave you shaking your head and thinking, Miller needs to see a shrink. He’s crazy! Though I’ve written and said, “I have the best job in the world,” more times than I can count, I’ve decided after nearly 28 years with North American Hunting Club it’s time to move on down the trail ... or at least around the next bend.

This morning at the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade) Show at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nikon and the "North American Hunter-TV" teamed up to announce the winners in the “Tell Us Your E-S-T Hunting Story” contest.

Over the weekend I attended my first ever Dallas Safari Club Convention and was I ever blown away.

If I'm two things, I'm a waterfowl hunting nut and a hardcore when it comes to protecting my hearing on the shooting range. The latter dates back to when I first met a couple of my gun-writing idols on a product trip back in the '80s. They were great guys, but nearly as deaf as posts. That meeting left a deep impression.

Oh oh—that’s not a good start. I shouldn’t call them “camera jockeys”—at least where they might read it themselves!

The deadline for entering the "North American Hunter-TV"/Nikon E-S-T contest is coming up fast. All entries must be posted on the E-S-T website by midnight on December 31, 2011. We want to hear your E-S-T stories.

The winner of the "North American Hunter-TV" Dream Hunt Giveaway was Charlie Valdez of Las Cruces, New Mexico! Charlie joined me and the "NAH-TV" team this past week in my favorite place in the world to hunt big-woods whitetails—Anticosti Island in Quebec.
