Shortly before his 50^th birthday, the author’s wife asked him how he’d like to celebrate the event by giving him a choice between a Dall’s sheep hunt in Alaska or his first South African Safari. Frankly, it was a win-win proposition and we think he chose wisely.

Ever since he was a young boy, the author admits to being endlessly haunted by the Dark Continent. He’d read the books by Hemingway, J.A.
