Have you seen the news lately? If you've been frequenting HuntingClub.com, you're probably aware that the North American Hunting Club (NAHC) recently welcomed well-known outdoors and shooting sports writer, columnist, consultant and sportsmen’s advocate, J.R. Absher, as the official outdoor news blogger for HuntingClub.com.

During his 30-plus years as a journalist and outdoor writer, Absher has been employed as a newspaper reporter, photographer, U.S. Forest Service mule wrangler, trade magazine editor, political consultant, copywriter, PR director and sportsmen’s advocate.

In recent years he has become a favorite among fellow outdoor communicators for his expertise in tracking, collecting and sharing amusing morsels of outdoors oddities, as well as relevant news about hunting, fishing, the shooting sports and items of interest to outdoor enthusiasts.

“I was a blogger before blogs were called blogs,” he said.

Absher's new blog, "Headline Hunter with J.R. Absher," focuses on breaking news about important issues that affect the outdoor community, along with intriguing, off-the-wall stories. In each of his blog posts, Absher tries to capture the collective voice of sportsmen and NAHC members. Those who agree or disagree with Absher's slant have the opportunity to voice their opinions and participate in lively debate in the "Comments" section at the end of each post.

Absher has been a regular contributor to the printed version of North American Hunter for nearly 15 years, writing its "Legislative Update" section since 1997.
