I was on my way out of town the other day and noticed that our local bull elk was in a pickle. I actually noticed the problem nearly 2 weeks ago, but thought nature had worked out the issue. It had not.

Our local town has a large pasture that is high-fenced. It is home to a small herd of bison and elk. To keep the animals active, it appears someone tossed in a horse toy and the bull somehow pierced it and is now wearing it like a Christmas ornament.

This time of year I routinely stop by the pasture to see when the bull drops his antlers. It's a good indicator of what the wild elk are doing, and so far the surveillance has worked.

I'm betting a pair of matched six-point shed elk antlers this guy is ready for his antlers to take a hike. How would you like to stare at a red ball 24/7? I guess Rudolph lived through a red nose, so this bull will likely live through the misplaced toy.

Antlers

Will somebody call the park manager. I seem to have lodged a ball in my antlers.
