Have you been dreaming about gobblers screaming at you from behind a bush?
Did you pack your turkey vest for hunting right after Christmas? Are you eyeing new turkey calls at the local sporting goods store every chance you get? Have you already put in for extra vacation time for the last week of April?
If you've answered yes to any or all of these questions you're likely suffering from the pre-season turkey hunting blues. Consult a slate call and a turkey hunting DVD for immediate, medicating results.
Better yet, take your shotgun out of the vault and add some accessories to ensure a slam-dunk season ahead. The first modification I'd consider is a turkey choke tube. Companies manufacture a variety of tubes to create ultra-tight patterns to extend the killing distance of your shotgun and make it more accurate. Some models, like HS choke tubes , come in ported models to tame barrel snap and felt recoil.
Next, add a sling to free up your hands for calling. There are a variety of models on the market, but if you want to own just one sling, look at the Extreme G3. The sling is manufactured using modern composites for a wear-proof product. If you want to swap it to another firearm the easy-adjust buckle allows you to fit it to another length in seconds.
Are you ready to shoot yet? Purchase some Caldwell Orange Peel turkey head targets and drop your shotgun into a Caldwell Lead Sled to tame the recoil. Next, purchase a couple of different loads to compare for the best results. I'd purchase a box of Winchester Xtended Range HD turkey loads and a box of Federal Strut-Shok turkey loads.
Now go out and blast some paper until it's time to tickle turkey heads with your effective new shotgun.

Take that and that and that. How about that one? Did you like that?
