Q: My Bear Grizzly recurve “broke” during a recent practice session, and I absolutely love that bow. Do you know where I can get a new Grizzly at a decent price? Everywhere I’ve looked so far either doesn’t carry them or they want a lot of money to special order one. Where should I go?– Club Member Tony Wilson/VIA E-MAIL
A: Don’t despair, Tony; your love affair needn’t end. For a half-century or more the Bear Grizzly has been a favorite of many recurve shooters, and that means new and used models aren’t that diffi cult to fi nd. Go online, type “Bear Grizzly recurve bow” into Google or a similar search engine, and you’ll uncover all kinds of sources. Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops offer 2010 models for about $330. 3RiversArchery.com sells Bear Grizzlies for the same price. I also found several eBay listings for older Grizzlies being offered for half that price. Personally, I’d save up and buy a new bow, considering it a long-term investment that will last for many hunting seasons. Sure, good deals on used bows can be found, but it’s only common sense to exercise care and good judgment to avoid disappointment. Good luck tracking down the replacement Grizzly that’s perfect for you and your budget!–M. R. JAMES
