How do you find game-rich territory? How do you discover good motels that welcome dogs? From local Fish and Game and State Tourism personnel. These folks are charged with  providing services and aiding tourists. Fish and Game websites are a cornucopia of information on all aspects of hunting and wildlife. You’ll find information on game distribution, harvest statistics and more. There are maps showing thousands of public hunting lands open to all for free. If this isn’t sufficient, call local game biologists and conservation officers for more detailed information. Do this politely at a reasonable hour, be honest and sincere and start long before the busy hunting season begins for best results.

Tourism and Economic Development departments—state, regional and often city—fall all over themselves to entice you to spend money at local businesses. They’ll help you find hunter-friendly towns, cafes, hotels, campgrounds and even places to hunt. Some have been known to provide names of landowners willing to host visitors!
