These heavier-than-lead shotgun slugs are designed for smoothbore shotguns and group as well or better than other shotgun slugs. However, Hevi-Shot Foster shotgun slugs provide lasting downrange energy and increased penetration over conventional shotgun slugs. These 23/4-inch, 12 gauge shotgun slugs weigh 1.06 ounces and boast a muzzle velocity of 1,450 fps. Contact Environmetal Inc. at: (541) 367-3522; www.hevishot.com. ($8.95/box of five)

“For a smoothbore slug, these shells make a very powerful impact and expand well, leaving no doubt they’ll produce a fast and humane kill.”

“The Hevi-Shot Foster slugs have excellent velocity and accuracy. I used them to shoot three deer, and all of them dropped immediately when hit.”

Sounds like an interesting concept, and perhaps a quick way to clean "powder residue" from the barrel. However, it is very unlikely that a solvent soaked patch, no matter how many, are going to truly "scrub" the barrel clean of plastic and/or lead. That kind of cleaning (which should always be done) is usually going to require a wire brush and solvent, and many times over. I would have to see myself it really to believe it!

Sounds like they have got a real winner here in this product, and definitely a big improvement over the standard lead slugs. I will definitely be "purchasing" a box of these on my next trip to the sporting goods store.

For you guys that are saying, " I want to field test this product" then go buy a box of these and do that! If you are thinking that your comments here are going to automatically get you some "freebees" from N.A.H.C., the you're dreaming! These products here have already been "field tested" by N.A.H.C. members, and they have posted their comments about the product.
Get a clue!!

DENNIS SUHOCKI. What brand of smooth bore shot gun did you use to test this product? How long was the barrel? What choke did you use? What the the fps reading on your chronograph that determined the "excellent velocity" you reported? What was your three-shot group size, and at what yardage? Do you have any photos of the recovered slugs from any of the three deer you shot?
