I’m not from the “old gang”,but I’m curious, how’s the hunting up there? I’m down here in Cross County and have a sister who lives in Mountain Home who is always askin me to come visit her and the kids.is there any public land up there,or is it all wrapped up?September 28, 2013 at 1:17 pm #5058
Since we had the big bad ice storm a couple of years ago the turkeys really took a hit–hardly see any around!! There is public land but most other property is posted! Deer hunting is good on private farms (property) but limited on public. The Army Corps Of Engineers owns all water front property here which is good hunting and open to the public…best way to hunt it is from a boat. Hope this helps some. Maps (free) are available from the Corps office here in Mountain Home and they are very helpful to any questions!!
Drop me aline or call if you visit your Sister…………..Bill Gould

Thanks for the info on the Corps office, had no idea how to get started in that area. They don’t hunt so my options were limited.A buddy of mine suggested Ozark National Forrest. Is that in the general area of Mountain Home?September 29, 2013 at 6:58 pm #5132

Randy, I tried answering you 2 days ago and was kicked out??? Tried several times–maybe this will go thru!! I will be in Kansas in a couple of weeks for my butchered hog at Santa Fe Meats in Overbrook. It will be a short fast overnite trip as I have Dr. appointments!! Someday we will get together!! Hope U R coming along OK. I’m doing much better but have to have these blasted check-up’s all the time.

Just don’t be goin’ “rebel”, and do what the doctors tell ya’. You should be fine if ya’ do.
Your Waylon CDs should be arriving today or tomorrow, depending on how well the Pony Express does getting them from WA state to AR.

GREAT!! I can’t stray too far with Bette breathing down my neck–being afraid I will have a stroke or something. I just don’t worry about that as we all have to go sometime!! I am listening to the Dr’s.———most of the time! Hunting season is here and doesn’t look like I’ll be doing much but will be sitting out in a blind near here with my smoke pole in a few more days!! Won’t shoot unless it’s a dandy—little bucks and does get a free pass just like last year. Just enjoy being outdoors in the fall and watching and listening in the woods.
Take care my friend and many thanks for the music that I enjoy!!

Congratulations to you and Bette on your 52nd anniversary! Does she get “extra credit” for putting up with you for all these years?
Somehow I missed your post on your health issues the first time I went through this thread. Man, that must’ve been a tough stretch you went through.
Anyway, I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better.
Be well all,

Steve,I am doing alot better, took my 12yr old grandson on his first deer hunt this past wkend,it took alot out of me,but is also making me stronger.October 20, 2013 at 9:13 am #7217
Drove up to the Pruitt’s on the 17th, picked up my Kansas oinker in Overbrook, stayed over nite with Mary and Mike and then home on the 18th. A fast exhausting trip for me but it was worth it to get out of the house even for such a short time. Hope for a longer visit next rip.
Randy, I’m happy you are doing so much better now. It takes time to get healed up especially when you are an old phart like me…
Steve, enjoying your CD’s!!!!
