I’ve been rocking Walt Gabbard’s new CD to and from work. It helps me get through stoplights, traffic and all the other parts of the daily grind that I could do without. I’m sure it’ll keep spinning as I’m on the road this spring to turkey hunts across the country.
Walt and I were thrilled with the response to the “It’s in the Blood” contest we posted a few weeks ago. Thirty-three NAHC members participated in my blog, and 80 folks participated on Walt’s Facebook page. There were a lot of great comments, but here are our three favorites.
From my blog:
fisherus: “Labrador” is the one for me. There isn’t anything better than having a lab as your hunting buddy. The unrequitted love and the work they do to please you endears them to your heart. Not only will they work their heart out for you in the field, they also are one of the best family dogs anyone could have. Great with kids, their mild-mannered disposition allows younger children to crawl all over them with only receiving a lick across the face a time or two. They are so endearing in their quest to please that they truly are man’s best friend. Love this song, as it constantly makes the memories flow as I think of all the yellow labs I’ve had in the past and the great retreives and work they did for me. This song is the perfect walk down memory lane in my golden years.
bigtgrmc: I guess my favorite song title would have to be “It’s in the Blood.” Pretty much sums up the feeling I have about hunting and the outdoors. I have tried to pass this same thing onto my sons and luckily they have showed the same passion. No matter what is going on in your life or the troubles you’re having, it’s nothing a day in the woods can’t relieve … at least for a short time. Thanks.
From Walt’s Facebook page:
Philip Sheetz: The whole album hits the core of a hunter’s spirit. “Chasin’ Thunder” hits an emotional spot in me; it reminds me of all the turkey hunts I had with my father as a child. He is restricted to a wheelchair, so now it is very difficult to take him hunting, so this song brings back good father-son hunting memories. I cannot wait to let him hear this whole album. If I won the free copy, it would be a gift to my father.
All three winners will receive a free copy of “It’s in the Blood,” courtesy of Walt. If you didn’t win, you can buy the CD right here.
If you’re ready for another chance to score free stuff, you better check out the Feather Trail Photo Contest. And remember to keep commenting on my blog for a chance to win extra turkey hunting gear throughout the season!
