Hey everyone.  Just picked up a new crossbow.  its an sa sport ambush.  Anyway the bolts that it came with are 16 inch aluminum  i would like to upgrade to maybe an 18-20 inch carbon.  Is this going to be an issue?  Im new to bow hunting in general so sorry if its a stupid question.  i know the weight will affect how it is sighted in now but other than that anything else i should be worried about

16 in seems pretty short for a hunting crossbow. You will need to go with the lenght that the owners manual says.

Bolts including heads should not go past the outer edge of where limbs basically meet---so if this is 16 inches--thats it---the longer the bolt up to a point the better as far as flight and efficiency !16 inches does not seem to be a good set up for a hunting bow!!   There is a point of no return, each crossbow is different so that point can vary----my crossbow pointof no return seems to be 21 to 22 inches   directions say 20 inches

I just went to SA's website and it looks likes you can use a 20" carbon. That's what I would use.
