I have hunted West Virginia and Pennslyvania and they both have just as many poachers as any other state. And we are not talking about carrying a concealed weapon we are talking about carrying a pistol during bow season. There are illegal hunters in every state trying to get into the record books just remember the Rompola buck it was all over the magazine covers as the new top buck but turns out it was not a legal deer. In the state of maryland we are allowed to kill unlimited does with a bow wether it be recurve, compound,or crossbow. In West Virginia all you have to do is buy a pistol stamp to carry one in the woods and you don't have to have a pistol permit to do it. So who's to say that the person that is carrying is legal to cary it

mdeeds I apologize as you were not clear on your point and I did a internet search on what you are talking about. Most of us assumed that you were talking about conceal carry. This is allowing anyone bowhunting to carry a pistol for protection, weather they are holding a CCW permit or not. I still do not have a problem with it, as I think we are mostly honest hunters. If you look at places like Alaska where they are carrying rifles and shotguns on top of their game gun to protect from bears it doesn't seem to be a problem. To me it is one more victory for us.

That's always the case for States that permit it , same with conceal carry . Don't use the big paint brush for this one bud .

cbrown36, nobody assumed he was talking about a ccp?  I brought that up because even though I have one, I'm still not allowed to carry during archery. I was only explaining my case under NY standards. Yes, the Yankees stink! LOL!!  I was tryin to devert the conversation.........sorry MRD, I tried?
