I heard a report about this on NPR about 30 minutes ago. The report stated that the F-35 program is 7 years behind, and 70% over budget. The report also said that some in the government are saying that the F-35 program has now become to big to fail... Go figure

I also remember reading other articles that stated that pilots don't like to fly the F-35's. One of the reasons cited was it's single engine design.

This project should have been scrapped years ago .That is when the over run was at only 100,000,000 billion .

At least someone spotted the crack, probobly some lowly mechanic.
Be nice if they could step back and see what is good and what is bad about the aircraft and try to get it right but that is not how the government seems to work.
There was a comedy movie about the development of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle showing how one of the people exposed its faults in testing and in typical fashion the person who exposed the faults was re-assigned to next-to-nowhere and the man in charge received a promotion. Star was "Frasier" Star.

What's the brouhaha about. In the testing faze of most new military hardware they find flaws deadly ones. And inevitable this leads to cost overruns. I remember some thirty years ago on the National news they were poohpoohing an new piece of military hardware. All sorts of problems during testing and all that bull. Fast forward to 1990 and the A-1 Abrhams was cutting through Iraqi armor like it wasn't even there. Yeah and the liberals wanted to scrap that puppy too. Would you rather they find flaws in combat or testing????
