Wrestling is a staple of the original Olympics. I cannot believe they are getting rid of it.

This is like taking away the super-bowl for high school and college wrestlers. The Olympics is the highest achievement.

They get rid of wrestling, but keep ping pong, and badminton.

I didn't read the links, but heard a report about this last week on NPR. I didn't listen all that close but what I did get is that this seems to be IOC politics, and caught many involved in the sport off guard.

Wrestling is one of the original sports in the olympics. Let the supporter {advertizers} of the games know this is the wrong move. Search them out and stop buying from them. Tel them why. Money has a way of talking.

Personally, I would favor elimination of the Olympics, completely! They are no longer about the athletes and competition, but have become politicized to the point that there is way too much graft and corruption involved. Consider the process whereby a city and nation is chosen to host the event, to the contracts awarded for building the venues, which food vendors are allowed to participate, uniform providers, lodging, transportation, and on and on! Then we can get into the discussion of how crooked the judges are and how much money is spent buying their votes. I suggest the time has come and gone for the games, and it's time to end them completely!!!!!!!!!

Uhhhhhhh, ch, I don't believe that bikini ski events are in the Olympics! Besides, I hate snow, I rather see something like her on a beach, or better yet by a nice pool without any sand or salt water nearby!!!!!

That's the problem with the "old folks" today... They've grown to be too damn particular

HeII yeah, who wants to watch rasslin when we can watch syncronized diving and swmming!?!?!?!?

Besides, the only sport I'm interested in that has naked or nearly naked females involved, are those that Tom sends in his e-mails! I especially like the ones with all of the clam and taco eating events!

SGINGRAS: Your right. Wrestling has been part of the olympics since the inception of the olmpics by the ancient Greeks.  Back then.  They wrestled in the nude.
rthomas: You forgot the fact that the olympics is supposed to be for novice athletes.  The countries,including the U.S. are putting profesional athletes in the olympics. the countries are wanting to win that badly. It started with the  Russians years ago.

Another reason to do away with them. There aren't many amateurs in sports these days. Hell, even little league and Pop Warner are offering payment to get kids from outside of the legitimate recruiting area to play.

Now, you fellas are just jealous of the SEC, which just happens to be the ONLY college football conference! Just suffice to say, look at the last four or five national champions!!!!!!  Any takers on which conference will win the national championship next year??????????????????

i think Alabama was more of a minor league pro team than a college football team. yes you have had a good run but all good things come to an end,im interested to see what Ohio State brings this year i believe they are eligible this year arent they? And a big thank you to Arkansas for taking Belima off our hands, i bet he doesnt last too long there
