Hey Gang,

First off, I'm a WA state resident and can't express my support enough for you and what you're dealing with.  I don't think any of us ever imagined insanity like this would be possible, and this could be just the beginning of a huge fight.
What's really scary to me is how quickly and easily they pushed this through.  Proposed bills of a similar nature are now coming up here, too.  It looks like they're unlikely to get off the ground, though.

I assume you're all writing your state legislators and U.S. congressional reps, as that's our first line of defense to help stop or slow this movement down.
I'm certainly doing so from my corner of the country, and adamantly encouraging/helping others to do the same.  Unfortunately, my efforts will do nothing for your situation in NY state.  I certainly plan to go down swinging, though.

If any of you are interested, here are links to a Q&A meeting in western NY with state reps on the bill.  I'm sure many of you have already seen or heard about this, but you never know.

This one is edited to 4 minutes and has annoying background music.

This one is the full length 33 minute version, with no background music so you can hear the speakers better.

I admire your fight from afar, guys.  I hope you keep it up along with the rest of us.

Good luck,
Steve

Writing them? sure but in NY it does zero good unless you're supporting their ultra-liberal positions. The BEST thing that could happen for NYS would be for Westchester and NYC to combine and form their own state. There was a movement to do that once upon a time but then the bleeding hearts realized that they wouldn't be able to steal from the rest of the state to pay for their bu77chit!

I and many others have written our legislators. The biggest problem is that NYS politics are just as corrupt as Illinois. This whole thing stinks of back room dealings. Now Obama (Illinois politician) is trying to do the same thing to the rest of the country with his lunatic liberal cronies from California. Even that idiot Biden admitted that the new gun laws would do no good. Everyone needs to remember all of this for all elections, local and national.
I think we should start calling it "The Umpire State". Lots of bad calls made by people without much vision.

These are just liberal baby steps to weakening our country for future empowerment.

Great points, guys.

I hear what you're talking about with your ultra-liberal reps.  We're the same way here, as the libs in the big, populated cities like Seattle & Tacoma cancel out the mostly conservative votes in the rest of the otherwise rural state.

None of my democratic/liberal state legislative or US congressional representatives got my vote, but I'm still writing to them along with many other gun rights supporters here.  If interested, you can check out our thread on the WA forum.
The only thing that might help is for all of us across the country to keep the pressure on, and show them there may be enough of us out there to vote their sorry butts out if they keep crap like this up.

I just keep reminding everyone I know to write and help them find out who to write and how.  Since no one has taken a swing at me or asked me to stop yet, I'll just keep persisting.  Actually a lot of friends ask me to keep reminding them, as a lot of people seem to find it difficult to sit down and do.
Even if it gets one letter gets written or someone passes my messages on to someone who does, it'll be worth the effort.

If anything develops on your situation there, I hope you'll post it here or on the WA forum.  You guys would be a much better sounce than what I stumble across on the internet, TV or radio here.  Then again, Sean Hannity is a NY resident and would probably talk about it.  While not my favorite conservative host, I do watch & listen to him at least somewhat daily.

Anyway, I hope this nightmare ends sooner than later for you guys.

This is the basic content of what I have sent to my state and federal representatives. It's brief and to the point. Maybe if enough people make their position very clear, these guys will think it over before they cast a hasty vote to make a deal with the devil.

"I trust that when you were reading the Constitution that you remember seeing the 2nd Amendment. It's in the BILL OF RIGHTS, It isn't the bill of legislative discretion. I support the NRA and the NYSRPA in their fight against the ill conceived New York law and any politician that might want to infringe on the rights of the people of The United States. The New York law and the proposed federal law will do nothing to make anyone safer. Taking guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens will have the opposite effect. Criminals will always have guns. Efforts to make parole boards and mental health professionals responsible for releasing truly dangerous people into society would be time better spent."

Remember how your reps vote on these issues and remind everyone at election times. Obama has nothing to lose now. Senators and congressmen still have to answer to the voters. Make sure they know that.

Did you see the latest guys. Ortiz (who naturally is from downstate, Brooklyn to be exact); has introduced a bill. He wants all NYS gun owners to carry liability insurance to the tune of............get this............$1,000,000. Yep that's with a 'm'.

Of all the representatives that I wrote to, I only got a response from one, Mike Nozzolio. In his letter he explained his objection to the ill conceived law and what he thought should have been done. He was one of the few that voted against the bill. I guess I didn't really expect to hear from the others, trying to defend their actions. If you live in the 54th district, remember this for the next election.

I never heard from the govenor. Today I got a form email from Kirsten Gillibrand. It said absolutely nothing, just like her web site. She doesn't take a firm position on anything. A lot of sweeping generalizations. It must be hard to keep you balance on a fence all the time.

Gonna write the Governor again. This time I'll enclose a copy of the newspaper article of the guy from Rockland County arrested for making facebook threats against the Governor & President.
Seems when they arrested him and searched his home, he was in possession of at least 2 rifles, ammo, and a "knuckle" style knife. All of which he legally could not have as he is a convicted felon. Not that it'll mean anything to the Governor, but here is proof that the laws that were on the books prior to "His Law" did nothing to keep weapons out of a convicted felon's hands. What part of his new manifesto would have done any better??? NONE!!! Sure I'll get another form letter!
Sorry for preaching to the choir.....
