http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-security/ most know the dangers of social media, but they have stepped it up a notch with new "defense" software. |

That's scary stuff. Nothing is private anymore. It's interesting, too, that if you go on Facebook (those of you who have) the computer knows where you are posting from, even more-so with the smartphones, as the article mentioned. So, if you go on Facebook even in say a coffee shop, that computer you log on to basically records your location. All the anti-Obama stuff I post on there...yikes. Oh well! |

From the article. Here’s the simple truth:
If you put your personal details on the Internet, especially on the
social networks, it doesn’t require any fancy defense contractor
software to track your every move. The social networks themselves can do
it. Advertisers can do it. Anyone with a lick of computer sense can do
it. If you want to keep your private life private, you have to keep it off the Internet. It’s really that easy.
I guess that pretty much sums it up. |

If you visit a grocery store, restaurant, gas station, or any other retail establishment and use a credit or debit card, your information is also captured and shared. That is the real reason your grocery store and drug store has bonus cards, They use that to gauge the products we purchase, and how often we purchase them. That information is shared with marketing companies who use it to sell advertising services to manufacturers and producers of consumer goods. We are tracked every day of our lives regardless of when, where, or how we proceed in everyday tasks and chores. |

Chit like that is why I have a dumb phone. I can text and send pics, but that's it. They can probably still track stuff, but not to the extent if I had a smart phone. |

I still have a REALLY dumb phone, and will as long as it works. What can I with it? Access the 'net? Nope Send/receive pics? Nope Send/receive texts? Nope Make/receive phone calls? Yep, what a novelty... Do I care about being "tracked" - Nope, I couldn't give a chit. I just don't need to carry around a phone like that and then pay probably over ninety bucks for a service plan... ridiculous in my mind. My phone costs me $100/year and I carried over $70 worth from last year to this. |

I finally just got a new phone a few months ago. Had an old Motorola for almost five years. Just got a texting plan too; I'm really stepping up in the world. LOL. I don't have or want a smart phone though. Too expensive, and I don't need one...and because of all of this crap going on. Heck, I'd be perfectly happy without a cell phone. The problem is, you almost need one in today's day and age, unfortunately. I wish I didn't need a computer and email too. It would make life a lot simpler. |

Just a bit of interesting trivia about smart phones. Did you folks know that there is more computer power and ability in the average smart phone than all of NASA had when they put a man on the Moon?
These days most of us take it for granted, but that little tidbit made me really think about how far we've come in my lifetime. It also leaves me wondering just how far we'll get before I'm gone.

The use of MOST cell phones you can be tracked and sometimes your conversation is listened to. Look what happened in England. And most cell phones can be tracked by either GPS or tower location. Big stink about cops listening to cell convos. It is all over youtube.
