The quotes were intentional Tom... I haven't been normal for a LONG time and don't anticipate it anytime soon. "normal" = MY version of normal.

I went by where the accident happened today - I really don't see how it's possible that I did what I apparently did! Everyone who'd seen it said the same thing so I had to see for myself. I even took a video of going down the street and still don't understand how in the world I did it...

What in hell did you do Steve? I haven't seen this post until now? Like Bigrig, I don't frequent the lifer thread. I've been out for 3 weeks due to surgery on my elbow. I just started therapy yesterday and have 3 more weeks of it. I just needed a tendon cleaned up that was full off scar tissue from abusing my body all my life. Of course others said it was due to not switching hands enough and wore out one arm! Don't think about that too hard bud!

I had back surgery about 10 years ago. Two herniations and a fracture. I know all about that dang body armor! Take care of yourself! Normal?

Well, I passed out while driving due to low sodium and my car ran into a block retaining wall. I couldn't of been going fast as the air bags never even deployed.  Fractured 3 vertebrae.  This was on 1/31 - May be able to ditch the body armor around the first of May or so. I have it off around home a good bit but even here i wear it.

Actually, here's a video of me going down the street it happened in.  As I go down the street, on the left you'll see a white picket fence with a hedge row going back from the road AND a telephone pole. Next is a driveway and on the far side of that a block retaining wall. Somehow I hit that retaining wall down by the house. I can't figure out how, but I did. The tow truck guy said I ended up pretty much perpendicular to the wall.

Hope your arm is ok and comes back 100% man!   Ans as far as me being normal?  Not to worry, I seriously doubt if that's in the realm of possibilities.....

And I hope your back's back!

No problem Patrick. I'm mending and doing what I'm told for a change. I'll mess around with most things but I'm not messing around with my back. He said if I continued doing as I'm s'posed to that no knives would be needed. That's impressive coming from a spine surgeon! ;-) Knives and I don't get along well unless they are in my hands so I'm cool with that. ;-)

Thanks guys

Hopefully you will heal well and not have any calcium build up anywhere (I have a rib that did that). I will never regret the surgery, I was in bad shape and never knew when I was gonna fall to my knees crying like a baby! Decompression therapy and shots was not an option and my nerves were getting pinched off. I'm smart to how I move now, as I'm sure you are learning. I have a little nerve damage though and can't stand still too long or my left leg and toes start to tingle. Keep up the good work Steve.

Oh, I know Joe. This is going to sound stupid but I've been lucky. This is the third time I've busted my back and no knives.

Paul, yeah, standing is an issue but it's only been six weeks he's saying it's going to be quite a while. It's gradually improving. Just no BLT. Bending Lifting or Twisting in other words... don't do chit... lol

Thank heaven for PCs - plus I'm taking the online auto driving safety course so my insurance is cut by 10% and I'm going to tear my guns down and clean 'em just for the hell of it. This too shall pass. ;-)

And that's really about the size of it too Tom. I swear - I don't see how anyone could not pass it. Just a matter of putting in the time.
And they have it structured so you can't shortcut it too... Just got my certificate today in the mail.

Anyhow - this link should work for you : http://www.tn.gov/safety/defensivedriving.shtml

If anyone else is interested for info in their state, I just did a google search as follows:

online driver safety course

Well, it sounds like you are on the way to recovery. I know what a PINTA recoveryand PT can be. Hope you get back to the way you were before tha accident. Do you know what caused the low sodium. You don't want that to happen again. I know what happened in my accident unfortunately that can never happen to me again as I'll never be able to drive another motorcycle again. If you want you can PM me and if you want I'll give you my e-mail address and cell number. Tom has been a great help in my ongoing recovery through my talks with him. So its my position that the boost I get I should pass on.

Speedy recovery
God Bless You

thanks Mr. Bill!  Yeah, I'm coming along pretty good actually.  Still hurts but that's how it's gonna be, as you well know.

Was mid 70's here today and sunny. I couldn't stand it any longer.  I lost the brace for a while and took the new toy out for a run the first time.    The dual lumbar supports definitely helped!  And about the time I hit 3rd gear... pain?  What pain?   Gettin' out of it was interesting but I managed. lol   I probably shouldn't of done it but I don't think I'm any worse for the wear and the weather's gonna turn chitty again so I won't be tempted to repeat.

You've probably got enough on your hands given the upcoming event but thanks for the offer. The same is always open to you as well.

OH, and as to what caused the low sodium was too much beer. I ended up peeing the salt out. So I quit smoking 5 years ago, figured I may as well toss booze too. Among other things, my wallet thanks me.
