Went to a gun show here in Greenville, SC last Saturday. I guess it would be more appropriate to call it a feeding frenzy at the shark tank. It just amazes me at the panic people conjur up. I went there to get some bullets and powder for a reloading project and to enjoy a good day of firearm gawking. Instead I felt like a pinball in a pinball machine, bouncing off shoulders, carts, and whatever else came rolling by. Not one ounce of powder was to be had at that point, just three hours after the doors opened. Bullets were equally scarce. And live ammo? Forget it. Some surplus oddball rounds and a smattering of stuff here and there. There was one case of Federal 223's at one table for a cool $1000 for 1000 rounds. I hope he dropped on his foot on the way out and it heals crooked. I guess I just don't understand why people can't just relax and be patient. If you didn't get stocked up between the last nut job and this one, shame on ya. A couple venders told me their suppliers told them it will take a couple years to get shelves full again after this one. I could go on for hours about some of the stupidity I've witnessed in the last month, but I have a notion I'd be preaching to the choir.

Kinda seems to me that ThePOTUS has made some people richer than they would have otherwise been. Sales on ANYTHING connected to a "gun", "firearm", "weapon",etc. has increased Drastically. I went to every shop in my town looking for .22cal. ammo for my "squirell gun" and came home empty handed. One Gun Shop said it might be 6 mos. before he would have any. If the Critters out there in the Outdoors only knew!!!!

I will suggest that everyone remember the company's that are taking advantage of the shortage and are price gouging for future business with the company's that are not doing this. One company in particular that I have had a long business relationship with is one that because they have chosen to get greedy and price gouge will lose my business from now and in the future and that company is Cheaper Than Dirt. I don't understand their choosing to do this to their many loyal customers and I hope that the other customers have noticed this and will do as I am. I have no problem with any individual or company making a profit as that is what business is all about but to go beyond making a profit and raise prices so high because of a situation such as we have at present is just plain ol fashioned greed which I will not tolerate. Again I implore all to take notice of the businesses that are doing this and then in the future to not do business with them once this shortage is over. A well know company such as Cheaper Than Dirt are making a big enough profit so to do this and take advantage of US customers is in my mind unforgivieble as we have been with them from their beginning.

Big Dawg just got their new catalog and there are no prices listed on their ammo I've got a back-order with them for some ammo been about a month or more hope I am lock in to the price that I bought it for. Now I now they are probably paying their suppliers more but not that much more if this ever cools down and we can get ammo again I will spend all resources on ammo reloading components

02/08/2012 LEANDER, TX.

Updated Policy for State and Local Agency Law Enforcement Sales:

Due to the recent and numerous new Anti-gun/Anti-2nd Amendment laws passed and/or pending across our country, LaRue Tactical has been forced to reconsider how we provide products to state and local agencies.

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

State and local laws have always been a serious focus of this firm, and we are now dovetailing that focus with the constitutional rights of the residents covered in their different areas by the old and new regulations.

We realize this effort will have an impact on this firm's sales - and have decided the lost sales are less danger to this firm than potential lawsuits from erroneous shipments generated by something as simple as human error.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Mark LaRue

healey,
If I remember correctly, you are a Mo. bro, right? Your offer for the loan is awesome. To do this for someone you have never met speaks volumes about your character, and compassion for others. I Thank you. As you may know the Squirell season closes on 15 Feb. I have some ammo left, but I am like all the rest of us who want to buy now before the price goes up. I found some 30-30 Cal. for my deer slayer and the price was double the price compared to last year.
I'm sure Mid-way USA and others have .22cal. still, but their price is going to follow the market so I guess we will have to "cowcoy up", and do the best we can.
The "govament" IMO is buying all the ammo to keep us from getting it. Without ammo, a rifle is just another piece of metal.
Thanks again, as ANDY G. would say, I appreciate it.
Erv.

I think ammo prices will remain high until we have a gun-friendly administration again. High prices and scarcity are a tactic of the antis and have been for some time. We only play into their hands when we behave the way we have for the last six weeks. The higher prices we are experiencing now will soon become the new norm before long. Just as gasoline "normal" prices are now hovering at or a little above $3.25 per gallon, it is largely accepted as normal and not likely to change. It's only been a few years that sub $2.00 per gallon was normal. There was very little, if any, discussion about banning ammo or any restrictions proposed on purchasing ammo that would get a second thought, so why the bare shelves? I don't want us to hand them defacto legislation that will price most people out of the shooting sports. Everytime someone buys enough ammo to support the next three generations of his or her's family tree, that is what you are doing. My son and I have committed to buying only one box of ammo in the caliber of our choice of what we shoot per week. That way, we can maintain our sanity and treat it as a savings account, a little each week adds up over time. The next time you feel the urge to buy everything on the shelf because you have been driven to fear you may not get anymore, just ask yourself, Really?

etaylor8:  The last catalogue from cheaper that dirt was just before everyone went completely nuts.  They were saying that the prices wern't guarenteed  tp be the correct price because of everthing that was going on.  Then two weeks after the one catalogue came out,. They sent another one without  prices.  I went online with them.  At that time.  There were a few .22's.  But not very much to be had.  Brand name stuff though.  The same for everything else.  I couldn't believe that 303 British was also a hard one to find.  The same goes for Midway.  I was online with them.  I even called Cheaper than dirt.  It's a local call for me.  They have two outlets with in an hour and a half.  They're main office is in Fort Worth, and another outlet is in McKinney.  Just north of Dallas by about 45 minutes.  You can walk in and buy stuff there over the counter. They told me that they were out and to try back in a week because they had stuff on the way.  But, it was going to go fast.  They were right.  It no sooner got there and it was on its way out.

healey, I know your area well. Not so much tho after what they did to the end of runway and changing Lindberg Blvd. I stated work at Mcdonnel Douglas in '84, but when Boeing took over, only lasted 3 yrs. I had my points by then and since I was driving from Salem everyday, decided it was time to retire.
I'll e-mail you in a day or two.

There's not a brick of .22LR to be had in this town. Hasn't been for a couple of weeks now. Yes, we all stocked up awhile back, but then folks went crazy this time around. Lots of oddball stuff all missing from store shelves, including most reloading components.

Hell, even the usual "after season" sale items are sold out. Hard to find any camo clothes, unscented laundry detergent, trail cams, etc. It seems that if it's gun or hunting related it's in scarce supply.......especially in the small local shops and Wally World.
