The SAFE NY ACT says that any weapon with any one of certain attachments on a gun its an assualt weapon. So if you were to add a forward grip to your Kentucky long rifle flintlock you've got an assault weapon. |

Yes we have to stand together against this onslaught. My turkey shotgun would be illegal with its pistol grip. I truly believe that New York would be much safer if the criminals were prosecuted and confined according to existing law. No more wrist slaps and let go attitude. |

The Mn. bill went even farther in redefining "Assault Weapon" adding a thumbhole stock to the list. |

Bring back Project Exile. This is where when a criminal is accused of a crime and a gun was involved they prosecute the offender under EXSISTNG federal gun laws. So a maggot here in Buffalo NY instead of going to a state facility where his homies are and his family can make weekly visits gets sent to Kansas. Where he spends five yrs. And when he gets out the state tries him for the original crime say robbery and he goes away for another five. Change the laws so that when a maggot commits a crime with a gun and somebody gets killed the ONLY sentence he can get is Life without the possibility of parole. NO PLEA BARGAINS!!! |

Gut, they did that in Richmond, Va for a time. Gun violence did decline, but, then the program was stopped. One reason was the federal prosecutors didn't like handling "small fry" prosecutions! Can't make their bones for promotion if cases aren't high enopugh profile, I guess. |

I with you Paul, Wayne Lapierre (sp?) pointed that out very well to congress. We just need to actually "apply" our current laws in place? |

You're asking our government to think reasonably and with some applied logic. Good luck! |

Politicians, by nature are dreamers, not doers. You see 3 classes of personalities in any venture, the dreamers, the doers and the lazy. The lazy are just that, useless sacks of debris that limp along with their thumbs up their butts often too stupid to care so they are completely irrelevant in any organization. Then you have the productive classes of doers and dreamers. Doers make stuff work, and make it happen, These are the only people that really have an intrinsic value. This it the worker that comes to work and does his job, takes crap and produces musrooms and makes the organizaion survive and thrive. But, the organization cannot really grow unless led by dreamers. Dreamers are the big gutsy idea people. They are rarely doers themselves though. In business these are the ones the run marketing and now product teams, and often if they have a doer in them are the ones that move into senior management levels. Dreamers however when allowed too much power almost always wreck the very thing they are trying to improve by dreaming uncontrollably. These are the people that react in knee-jerk fashion and try to make policies off the tops of their heads and then race off to dream elsewhere leaving the doers with enormous piles of crap to try to work with. A dreamer that is based with a doer mentality is a great asset but there are few of these people because real doers do too much to have much dream time. Just an observation, not that it can alter things. |
