Sorry rice201, I didn't mean to re-post your link.  I missed it the first time through.

Looks like they've taken down the link for some reason.

No worries Elkaholic, it looks like they took down the shortcut URL after the article made the Drudge report. But the full address http://seattletimes.com/html/localn...17xml.html is still working.

Similar bills are springing up in several states, minus the illegal home searches, where even owning a semi-automatic will turn a honest person into a criminal. Colorado just passed a 'high-capacity' clip ban yesterday. I'm going to be watching Magpul now and if they follow-through on their threat to move.

I have been checking daily to see what has been going on with this bill. All I can find is that they will be looking into it more this week. Most of the news articles came out a few days after the first reading of the bill.

Anyone know where to look to be kept in the loop on this thing?

Some of you may have already seen this. You guys are doing a great job of spreading the word and writing opposition letters.

I doesn't matter the content of these bills. WE ALL know the intent. Small bites of our freedom. Think about this; If we were to go after the media including hollywood, and blame them for crime and gun violence they would be whining like the dogs they are about FIRST amendment rights. They the media are shooting themselves in the collective foot by going after our SECOND amendment right and vertually promoting violence of all and any kind. The details are unimportant. What is, is that we don't back down at all, no consessments. If it were not for apathy we would have already won the fight for our freedom. The couple of people that we get to write and call is not enough. I will get down now and post the latest.
Thanks

Kurt

EMERGENCY ACTION ALERT from the NRA-ILA

The phone calls work. Please take a stand to protect our rights (your rights) and call these Senators. Spread your calls over several days if you need to. The important action is that you make those calls.

Many gun owners may not receive these alerts, so please take action and pass this on to other gun owners you believe will take a stand to fight for our rights.

Thank you.

Subject: These 20 will decide your fate

http://www.nramedia.org/t/1174990/5...5/21548/0/"> Call your Senators TODAY!

Last week I asked you to call your senators and tell them to vote against every element of President Barack Obama's gun ban agenda.

Your calls are working! I've received numerous reports that NRA members are lighting up the phone lines and our senators are definitely hearing from us.

HOWEVER, now we need to take our phone campaign to the next level.

There are 20 U.S. senators, in particular, who hold the fate of your freedom in their hands.

These senators represent states where gun ownership is respected and our Second Amendment freedoms are revered.

But right now, they're facing huge pressure from the gun ban lobby and Barack Obama to support Obama's extreme gun control agenda!

So please, call each of the senators below and tell them to vote NO on any gun ban...NO on any magazine ban...NO on criminalizing private firearm transfers...and NO on any gun registration scheme.

Sen. Max Baucus

202-224-2651

Sen. Mark Begich

202-224-3004

Sen. Susan Collins

202-224-2523

Sen. Joe Donnelly

202-224-4814

Sen. Kay Hagan

202-224-6342

Sen. Martin Heinrich

202-224-5521

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp

202-224-2043

Sen. Tim Johnson

202-224-5842

Sen. Tim Kaine

202-224-4024

Sen. Angus King

202-224-5344

Sen. Mary Landrieu

202-224-5824

Sen. Joe Manchin

202-224-3954

Sen. Claire McCaskill

202-224-6154

Sen. Mark Pryor

202-224-2353

Sen. Harry Reid

202-224-3542

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen

202-224-2841

Sen. Jon Tester

202-224-2644

Sen. Mark Udall

202-224-5941

Sen. Tom Udall

202-224-6621

Sen. Mark Warner

202-224-2023

Spread your calls out over several days if you need to.

And remember: It doesn't matter if you do not live in these senators' states - YOU NEED TO CALL THEM. After all, the votes they cast will affect you no matter where you live!

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to winning this battle. Now is not the time to let up! Call each of these 20 senators as soon as you can.

By working together, we can defeat the Obama gun ban agenda and save the Second Amendment!!!

kinda, 5737 didn't make it out of committee last week which was the cutt-off for non-fiscal issues. But it's not totally dead and could be linked to other bills later in the year so it's something to keep an eye out for.
I've noticed that on the state Legislature site they are not keeping up on updates for this bill, or what the Legal committe is doing since there is no mention on this on last Friday's notes. So I've started writing for the records information which is all listed here:
