Good. Now that I have your attention, please give some thought to all these new "mental health reforms" that will be taking place.
While gun control is out front,  the "mentally ill" could be anyone who is interested in guns! The local news covering the accent signage shooting indicated the shooter was recently target shooting as one of the "signs" or symptoms of illness.
Now if you own, interested, plan to buy, carry or thought about anything firearm related could "red flag" you on any ownership tests.

This could be a bad precident. One could be considered dangerous or mentally ill if one disagrees with someone on something (think opposing gay marriage, as an example). Or religion or politics.

So this is not just about the 2nd Amendment, but also about the first. Just another way to destroy our culture even further.

What will be an interesting issue in the matter(If it ever gets addressed) is that for years the govt drafted GI's, put a gun in their hands, sent them off to war. Many had volunteered over the years and served in wars and combat zones. Many of which returned home just to get spit on and degraded by the ignorant public. And in recent years PTSD has been discovered to be almost guaranteed (to some point) to come back in these soldiers minds. Being that PTSD IS a mental illness, and although many older veterans have been diagnosed with it, yet never committed any of these recent crimes that the same general public is crying about. Many of such have owned guns FOR years with this newfound PTSD, and as I said did not commit any of these crimes. To send a soldier to war, and then (IF HE LUCKY ENOUGH TO COME BACK!) tell him he can't have a gun because of the mental illness (PTSD) that the govt imposed on him in the first place is the govt's way of spitting in their faces just as the public did when our vets returned from Viet Nam. The whole thing has Jane Fonda written all over it, and I think the govt (As well as Fonda) can kiss my a** for even attempting to jeopardize anybodys rights to bear arms. After what these guys have been through, and what "Mental illness" the govt has put upon them, and the fact that they remained responsible gunowners even after such trauma (FOR DECADES) clearly shows that the whole "Mental" issue is just part of an escape for the govt to get out of the mess they refuse to address at the core. Yes, there are some out there that clearly are not mentally stable enough to own a weapon, but the problem isn't that. It's that the crooks are protected more by the pollies than the honest. It's more a matter of legally obtained and responsible ownership as opposed to illegally obtaining and hiding behind a weapon that stands here. That's just my take.

Yep, and we all, the NRA, anyone who knew those who did those horrible things were or had to be Mental to some degree. And we jumped on that mantally ill band wagon, opening the door for the extrem far left to attack gun ownership in a differant way. And they use Sympathy to further their agenda. Attacking the first Amendment from a differant direction as well. PC being that tool, if you do not say it just right you have no Sympathy, are bigoted, racist, hateful, and should be shamed. An we are all, in one way or another on that band wagon, and don't even realize it. Almost any anti-anything group uses that tactic. Be it on the left and yes even the right.

Be it both sides of the Religous issues, Abortion, Guns, DUI, Drugs, Gays, both sides want to impose by force if they believe needed, their beliefs on the other side.

"This could be a bad precident. One could be considered dangerous or mentally ill if one disagrees with someone on something (think opposing gay marriage, as an example). Or religion or politics".

Or disagreeing with the person the government has assigned to give you a mental health evaluation???

MW, the writeing is on the wall, but it can be changed. It is going to be a hard road for the Antis for the next two years, many of the Dems are not going to go along with a lot of this. The Republicans need to start adressing other problems as well. There are many who voted for Obama for his stance real or not, on issues they felt more important to them. Those issues need to be adressed in a non-bible thumping way, or they will continue to push many away. Abortion needs to be addressed in a scientific manor, and not a he*l fire and bream stone manor. Gay rights the same way. Immigation more along the lines of the illegals are doing what anyone of us would to feed our families, they are not the real bad people here, law breakers maybe, but if the liberals get their anti gun agenda pasted we could all be law breakers. And why to protect and provide for ourselves and our families. We need to go after those who take advantage of the illegals, use and abuse them, those who aid them not only with getting all that free stuff, but those who draw them here for the low paying jobs, you know the ones Americans want to do because they pay nothing, and make the rich just that much more rich. Then let the American tax payer foot the rest of the bill. If there are not some changes in some minds by the Republicans, the Liberals are going to continue to gain ground, with those sick, nasty, disgusting poeple we hate so much. That is the writeing on the wall. We beitch and complan about the Liberals tring to push what they believe on others, while actually doing the same thing, we just use the bible to justifity your pushing, while forgeting we will answer for our sins and no one elses. And they are not asking us to be apart of their sin, but let them live their life as they wish, and if there is a God they and they alone will answer for those sins.

As everyone probably knows, Nixon saved my ass from going to Viet Nam, when he cut off the draft at 230 in 1971. So, I have no idea of what our soldiers go through in battle. I will say that I have known vets who obviously suffered from lingering affects of PTSD (battle fatigue as it used to be called), and definitely feel that our country owes these vets much more than they have received. I also know some guys who were already nuttier than a damn fruit cake prior to going into military service, and are no more fugged up today than they were before going to Viet Nam or other war zones. Then there are the guys who have figured out how to play the game and take whatever they can get for pretending to be fugged up after military service. An example is a certain local character who never left a desk job in the US, but is totally disabled due to suffering from PTSD! I honestly believe that the actual number of veterens who are diagnosed with PTSD are inflated by the numbers of pretenders. Maybe I suffer under a misconception due to comparisons of the folks I know locally; but that's how it appears. Now those same pretenders are going to be denied their gun rights, alongside the real victims. Maybe that's somehow a perverted justice for them while at the same time a major injustice to those who truly did suffer and have recovered!!!!!!!!!

And another scary soundbite when Obama mentioned these tools as "weapons of war". Well bows and arrows were also "weapons of war" as well as muskets, crossbows, etc, so those bowhunters shouldn't consider themselves immune either.

I've been seeing comercials on TV lately that it is bad to say someone or something is "gay" now that it is politically correct to be homosexual. And now I know why over the past few years we have been being indroctonated to use terms other than "mentally ill" to describe people that have deficiencies. They (the libs) want to use the term for those of us who own firearms.
