Barnstead couple charged with stealing gun left in court restroom

BARNSTEAD — Two Barnstead residents were charged with stealing a handgun on Friday from the Concord District Court.

Police say the firearm belonged to the court's bailiff, who had misplaced the handgun in the court's bathroom minutes before it was stolen.

Jacob Noury, 33, and Courtney Rojek, 24, both of whom list their address with Concord District Court as 417 Narrows Road in Barnstead, were charged with felony-level theft and possession of a firearm in a court facility. They were arrested Saturday, after State Police executed a search warrant on their residence and found the firearm, said State Police Sgt. Charles Johnson.

According to Johnston, the bailiff at the court, Julie Bickford, reported misplacing her handgun on Friday. Police reviewed the surveillance video, and found that Rojek and Noury were in possession of the firearm that same day, and had walked out of the courthouse with the weapon.

“It's obvious they didn't realize they were being videotaped,” said Johnston.

He said the video shows the two suspects communicating while committing the alleged theft.

Johnston said that Noury and Rojek were at Concord District Court on Friday on official business, and court officials helped identify them from the surveillance video.

“This is the first such instance I've personally investigated in my 10 years as a state trooper,” said Johnston. “I have never investigated a crime involving theft of a mislaid firearm belonging to a law enforcement or court official.”

Rojek and Noury were arrested at a tattoo parlor in Chichester on Saturday, said Johnston.

The two were arraigned via video on Monday. They are currently incarcerated and held on $10,000 cash bail. The probable cause hearing on their charges has been scheduled for Feb. 8 at 10 a.m.
"The BIG Lie" The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6] His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]

I would hope that the bailiff was fired. I would think that losing one's firearm would be a big no-no.

Yep ! Their pictures tell all that is needed to know for sure. Everybody should know that we are being constantly under video scrutiny when we leave our homes and enter the city. They even have the interstate video cameras that run 24/7 and definitely any government building has a video camera setup. There are not many places one can go without being on video these days. Couple this with the use of drones and any idea of privacy is a piep dream.

I agree the bailiff should be unemployed, and I can imagine the legal business those two were at the court house for! Damn what an ugly beitch!!!!!! Besides, every person that enters a court house is under video surveillance from the time they enter the building and go through the metal detectors and the pat down, so how fuggged up were those two??????????????

Back to irresponsible gun owners, we had a gun shop here. There were always several people there BS ing. I remember a few times when some one who looked like those two walked in, everybody who was carrying did a little quick check where ever the gun was hiden.

This is not uncommon.  It has happened quite a few times in the past.  Just not publicized that much.
