They call them a "Personal Defense Weapon"(PDW) Talk about stating things backwards!!!

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.
Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.
The RFP describes the firearm as “Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) – 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.” Additionally, DHS is asking for 30 round magazines that “have a capacity to hold thirty (30) 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.”
Republican New York state Sen. Greg Ball also issued a press release this week bringing attention to the weapons purchase request.
Calls made to DHS seeking information regarding whether or not the RFP was accepted and fulfilled were not immediately returned on Saturday.
Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) on Thursday introduced legislation that would enact a so-called “assault weapons” ban. The bill would ban more than 150 firearms and limit magazines to 10 rounds. There is no expiration date on Feinstein’s bill.

So are they really "WDP", Just another example of how they know best, do as I say not as I do. We all know us mere mortals could never be trusted with such dangerous equipment, well unless your talking about going to war and then your a hero until you don't fit their agenda any longer then your moved back to irresponsible menace, not capable of dealing with society any longer, so we'll throw a mental evaluation on you and take the guns away so you don't hurt anyone or yourself, but stick around could be another war you could fight for us. Then there's those private citizens that have no businesses owning a firearm of any sort, most of which have been handling firearms longer than they've been trusted with a car, some of us since we were big enough to pull a trigger, but we are stuck with law makers who couldn't tell the difference between a .22 and a 20 ga., getting pretty fed up with the BS. Sorry started out as a ribbing to LD, but turned into a rant lol.

This is similar to the article I posted that called the “ASSUALT WEAPONS” bought by the School Police in CA as only  “Semi-Automatic Rifles”.  Again, if we own them they are assault weapons. But truly, they are just semi-auto rifles.

Most people just do not understand that a true assault weapon has “select fire” which allows single or burst mode (FULL AUTO) capability.

Beside the government the media is a big player in the “misinformation” and biased news coverage.  When the teen from NM shot and killed his family a few weeks back it was all over the news, covered several days by multiple media outlets. Just a week later a cop in CA shot and killed his family, set his house on fire then committed suicide. Hardly any coverage on this…WHY.. If a cop kills shoots and kills his family it is not news worthy???
