I want any advice I can get. What brand of bows are good? Where can I find a good deal on one? etc. I know there are a ton of big name bow manufacturers out there now such as, matthews, bowtech, hoyt, pse, and bear being a few of them. Which ones of these are really worth getting? I don't want anything extremely pricey. Something mid-range that will put deer down consistently is all I want.

I could recommend a certain bow that works for me, but will it work for you is the real question. What is a good set up for me will be different in some way for you. "Which one is worth getting"? Well you first have to go to a local archery shop or pro shop to select the bows you want to try...try them...then make your decision on which on is worth getting. Now you can shoot a bow that feels great in your hand, feels nice and smooth on the draw and comes completely setup ready to hunt, but could be way out of your price range. So find a bow that you feel good shooting and comes setup ready to hunt, that way you wont have to go out and by all the up's for the bow. Lastly you cant expect to pick up a bow and have it put deer down, you will need to put in countless hours of practice at various ranges and angles and practice in all kinds of weather as well in order to successfully make a human kill. I hope all this information helps you out and just a fair warning before you get started in bow hunting, once you start its almost impossible to stop.....Welcome to the Addiction!

With todays technology they all make great bows. Everyone will tell you to go to an archery shop and have them help you in getting your draw length measured. Probably the most important. I have a nephew that was wanting a used bow and let him try shooting mine. His draw length was so much shorter than mine that when he drew it back he couldn't even see the peep sight as it was behind his eye.

I have always been a PSE fan have even dropped my first one from a 12' stand a couple of times and the only thing I could find wrong was I lost a cam axel snap ring and found a replacement at auto parts store. When I went to a crossbow this year I went with a Bowtech. They offer a lifetime warranty (If you buy from an authorized dealer and not off the internet). I liked the specs of their compounds also.

One thing to keep in mind in choosing one in your price range you will want to have enough to buy a release, maybe extra arrows, broadheads, and a target. You can also watch reviews of different bows on youtube that might help you in narrowing down your choices. Youtube also has tips on shooting and tuning your bow.

Wishing you luck. It is easy to become addicted once you get started.
