Was wondering if anybody has been finding any shed antler's yet. I've seen some deer around my place (Ohio) with one side but have not got a chance to get out.

Going out this weekend to look for sheds after we are done shooting some more turkeys. Got one small shed last weekend while turkey hunting. Seen several smaller bucks that have not dropped yet.

My neighbor killed what he thought was a big doe on New Year's Day. Turns out it was a six year old buck who had already shed. We think it was a heavy horned 8 point we had been seeing all fall. We're all kind of dissapointed but what are you going to do?

According to my cameras, the bucks around here still have their antlers.

That kind of thing happened to us one year Crosby87. But a car had hit a deer that went into on corner of my property that died. The neighboor told me that it was the biggest doe he ever saw. I checked it out and it was a buck that shed . Bad feeling, I always worry about taking deer late but I bow hunt and I'm able to get a good look at what I'm shooting. Alway's look at the shape of the head and the size of the neck. Has worked for me so far

I've seen a few with one side on some pictures, but don't get to do much shed hunting, since the areas are inaccessible where they normally shed.

Forgive my ignorance(but have never done it). What's the object of hunting for sheds?

For me its more scouting time and finding the occasional shed. I've made a few things out of the smaller sheds, my favorite is a toilet paper holder.

I think it's purely for the enjoyment of getting out in the wood's . And find out which buck's made it through the season and maybe get an idea of what may be around the following season. I also use them as decoration in my cabin

ternera, I like to pick 'em up when I can in order to measure them against next seasons antlers and see the growth from one season to the next.

Rt: this P.M. I went to "buck's stand" and painted a trail(using the smallest trees) and marked a path to the bottom. Tomorrow I'll take the tractor with the "tree-cutter" and open a trail so I can take the tractor with the harrow and make me a food-plot down there. Plus it'll make it easier to get to any downed deer(Travis will explain when we went to pick mine up).
Anyway, that's the shoit I do as soon as the season ends. Walk my woods to plan the next job.
BTW, my friend that has the "open" stand at the "cut", wants me to move it to the S.W. corner and modify it like the rest of my stands. It's as if I don't have enough.

ternera, if I had the type of hardwoods that you have, I'd be happy to spend all of my time in 'em!!!

Thanks bud, you need to make it back again so you can find your own niche and have your own stand. That way I don't put you on stands that deer don't frequent.

Most of the sheds will be found in the bedding areas and on the trails leading into and out of them.

Been looking while I bow hunt yotes in a local state park. Had 2 really nice bucks running back there during bow season. Since I didn't get them, sure would like to find their sheds!!

Found a set today about five feet apart, Seen the one from about 15 yards away but had to force my way through the brush before I seen the other. Must have been a bedding spot for this deer. I have two pic's of them
