Where are all the people that once were complaining in the news about "global warming"? Winter finally made it in, and it is hitting hard. I feel for the people that are currently suffering.
Did that POTUS promised to do something about the price of gas, diesel fuel, heating oil, etc? |

Global warming was a liberal attempt to cover up the results of massive Northern migrations to the South and the West. If all of those snowbirds moved back home, the cold weather would go back with 'em!!!!!! Seriously, though, I feel sorry for folks like lunkerdog who live in those really far Northern states. Those are some brutal cold temps they are suffering through. |

The Earth has gone through many cycles, Tropic to Ice Age back and forth. Do we have some effect on that, I would say yes, but only to a small degree. If you have some idea as how those cycles work you could predict Global Warming. Much like say Mosses did, He lived in the desert for many years, he knew the tides of the red sea and how they worked. A little timing, cross his people at the right time, the tide comes in with the right timing and those chaseing you would be caught in it. |

I've been ice fishing when it was 40 below here in Wisconsin. Needless to say, that was a foolish decision. LOL. It's warming up now, though. Actually, if global warming was real as far as us causing it, it technically would be colder. The ice caps would be melting (and I guess they are a little), and all of the cool water would be drifting into the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, causing the air to cool. It's all a cycle. We have little affect on climate change, as ckell said. |

"Seriously, though, I feel sorry for folks like lunkerdog who live in those really far Northern states" What??? You don't feel bad for ole YH up in Canada??? Kidding aside, I wouldn't have it any other way. I guess it all equals out in July when you folks further South are suffering from the heat. We humans are among the most adaptable critters on the planet. I've got hunting/ice fishing clothing that's rated for 60 degrees below zero. A temperature I've actually seen here in Minnesota, it was around 96 or 97 when that weather hit. The weatherman is calling for 36 below tonight. We have a good furnace, and a fireplace. Trust me, I know how to deal with the cold, if I wanted to prove a point I could suit up and spend the night in the woods and would survive just fine. These days it would be a very rare occurrence for me to get cold under any conditions. I'll not say it will never happen, and of course has in the past, but I've learned to prepare for most cold weather situations. |

I've worked on a roof in 60 below windchills, 2 crews of 2 rotating every hour, but never in actual temps, but that was cold enough for me. |

I did it because my Government told me to, but you learn to cope, it does help in civilen life for those times when you just have to go hunting, or the cows want feed. And you are right if you can stay inside that is the best, thing to do. |

It is my opinion that the accepted term for this phenomenon turned from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" so it could be more easily sold to the people. The earth gets hot for a period of time, Climate Change; it gets cold for a period of time, Climate Change.
And I am in total agreement in "Climate Change". The proof I have is that three months ago, the temperature was 73 degrees and it was sunny outside my house. Today as I write this, it is 14 degrees with very light snow.
What I do not yet believe is that that 59 degree swing in temperature was caused by human beings. The reason I don't believe it was caused by human beings is because I have not seen any hard evidence to prove that (that, and the fact that those types of temperature swings have been happening my entire life).
I am not saying that man has no effect on the climate, I am just saying that that I've not seen any true evidence of it. The fact that we keep hearing that "the case is closed on the climate change" makes me very suspicious anyway. As long as we have some scientists agreeing and some disagreeing (which is happening still today), the case is not closed. But with so many trying to make that "conclusion" absolute, I suspect there may be more sinister forces at work.
The earth is very old, and I don't think we have enough historical weather data to conclude what is a normal cycle of the earth (that could occur every couple thousand years or more), and what could be being caused by man.
Again, I am not denying man-made affects, I just don't believe the "case is closed".

You can take any group of two or more scientists and put 'em in a room and each one will be able to spout of his own undeniable facts that will support his supposition. They are like polls, and any thing can be proven by the application of the question and answers. The simple fact that the earth has gone through drastic climate changes throughout it's history can be proven by studying the glacial movements and striations in glacial ice. Let's also remember that archeology has provided plenty of evidence through the fossilized remains of plants and animals. Yes, I realize those are one set of scientific facts that may be disputed by one particular group of scientists. But let's also look at historical evidence and weather records over the years. Those who can't or won't accept that the earth goes through cyclical heating and cooling phases probably have an ulterior motive behind their particular brand of science. Does anyone deny that something catastrophic occurred that decimated the dinosaurs? The most commonly accepted notion was that there was a major climate change that caused their demise. Was that a naturally occurring event, or was it triggered by a massive meteor crashing into the planet......either way, since man wasn't around, it certainly wasn't a man made disaster, was it!!!!!!!! BTW, any time I have to wear thermal underwear and still get cold, it's too damn cold for this fat white boy, and this past Saturday morning while hunting at ternera's, I was freezing at 8:00 in the morning with thermal's on, heavy hunting pants, two shirts, two coats, and gloves!!!!!!!!!!! |

The fact is the earth has been in a warming cycle for about 10,000 years since the last ice age. There have been a few blips along the way but the earth has been getting warmer for a loooong time now. Has human activity pushed that trend along? Maybe. Our sun has also been warming it is actually getting hotter as it ages. Our sun is a middle age star It is over 4 billion yrs old and has enough fuel to last another 4 billion yrs. But the fact is ALL stars get hotter as they age. But what's the big worry man is the most adaptable creature this earth has seen. Man has gone from cowering through the night in caves to ruling over the earth. And we can adapt to what ever comes along as far as a warming planet goes. Who knows a cooling cycle could be right around the corner. Ten thousand years is a mere blink when you're talking about a planet that is 4.5 billion years. And as Alfred E. Newman said "What me worry" |
