Bills seek to place NJF&W under Ag Dept. umbrella

Images-1 Bills seeking to move the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife and all state forestry services to the Department of Agriculture were debated before the Assembly Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee last week, but votes on both measures were tabled to permit more input from stakeholder groups. Sponsors say the smaller Department of Agriculture would provide a better home for fishing, hunting and forestry programs that they claim have been neglected by the Department of Environmental Protection. Sounds like the anti-hunting folks have something up their sleeves for NJ hunters and their fish and game departments that could influence hunting seasons and public land access.
