I am going to go bear hunting for the first time this up coming fall. My wife wants to go too. She has never been hunting before and wants to cut her teeth on a nice black. My question is, does anyone have any ground that she can hunt on, or know of anyone that might? I am not looking for ground for myself as much as for her. I am willing to work with/for the landowner for access. I would like for it to be within an hours drive or so of Fort Lewis. I have worked ground and animals in the past and kind of miss that. Any help would be great. Thank you in advance.

Wish i could help you out but this will be my first year going for bear myself. I am hoping i can stick the bear that gets into my garbage cans every summer, as long as he is still around he will be going down. Good luck.

There is a spot not far from JBLM that holds everything you could want to hunt, including a healthy black bear population. It's in GMU 667 and I would be happy to show you some saturday. It's in an area I scout and hunt. There is always fresh sign of bear and I spotted a huge blackie last April coming up from the river. The area is accessable only by foot or mountain bike, so getting the meat out will be some work. It is gated forest land but you can hunt there.

I think I found what you are talking about on a map I may go take a look at it sometime. Thank you for the invite to show me around, but with my wife not letting me plan trips like this to far in advance I won't be able to give you much either. If you don't mind short notice we may be able to set something up. Thanks again.

I am always ready to go scouting for the next season. I only have Saturdays off until August so PM me if that day works for you.

That would be great. We could cover a lot of ground and maybe take out a couple of coyotes while we're there. I will give you a call when plans get made.

I have nothing to add in the way of info or advice, but just want to wish you all good luck.  It would be great to see some nice pics of your successful hunts here this fall.

Your working to get together and help each other here reminds me of this board when it was much more active.  I've made a number of lifelong friends and hunting partners here, most of which attend our GTs every year (including one of my closest friends).
