That's sad. I'd stop going if I went. But, considering I live in Wisconsin, I don't go anyway. LOL
Every sunrise I take in over a marsh or in a forest, I thank God for all he has given us.

That is not far from where I live and it cleared up my schedule seeing as I am not going to attend this year. Most of the local firearm dealers are pulling their booths/displays as well.

Did they with draw in protest to the ban or in agreement to it.. not wanting to be involved in gun shows?

It's actually an ingenious plan... have gun owners destroy themselves!

I'm hearing many questioning why we need AR's or multiple round magazines... semi automatic hunting rifles!!

Simply amazing!!!
"The BIG Lie" The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6] His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]

swnoel, the businesses nearby have signs stating they withdrew in protest and some have signs about a smaller less known firearm and sportsmans show in the general area.

I don't buy the "reason"....

Reed Exhibitions: ESOS 'postponed, for now'

Images-2"It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this year’s show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing." ESOS.

Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles (also called ARs) at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, PA.

“Our original decision not to include certain products in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show this year was made in order to preserve the event’s historical focus on the hunting and fishing traditions enjoyed by American families,” said Chet Burchett, Reed Exhibitions President for the Americas. “In the current climate, we felt that the presence of MSRs would distract from the theme of hunting and fishing, disrupting the broader experience of our guests. This was intended simply as a product decision, of the type event organizers need to make every day.

“It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this year’s show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.

“ESS has long been proud to participate in the preservation and promotion of hunting and fishing traditions, and we hope that as the national debate clarifies, we will have an opportunity to consider rescheduling the event when the time is right to focus on the themes it celebrates.”

I guess vendors were pulling out... Maybe GROUPON can learn the same lesson! Tougher thouggh since their customer base goes far beyond outdoorsman.

mpanies distancing themselves from Harrisburg show

Lancaster Archery Supply In the aftermath of this week's announcement by Reed Exhibitions USA that manufacturers and vendors with AR-platform rifles, accessories, magazines and related items will not be permitted at the upcoming Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show (aka "The Harrisburg Show"), some exhibitors—including Cabela's, Lancaster Archery Supply, and Kinsey's Outdoors—have announced they will not attend.

A small percentage? More like over 20% and increasing. Will ESOS return the $ people already paid to attend?

The list of companies in Lunker's post didn't appear to be a small percentage of the vendors in my opinion! I suppose that since semi-auto rifles aren't legal for hunting in Pa., the inclusion of AR style guns wasn't historically accurate. Sounds like a cop out and cave in to the antis more than any thing else.

As of Wed night, the list of vendors pulling out was over 250 or so. I heard that a big boat vendor pulled out on Thursday. Guess Reed (the promoter) learned that you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you. The ironic part is that they also manage the SHOT show that just ended. And NSSF who owns the SHOT show has released a statement that they are looking at other options for next years SHOT show.

Postponing show could cost Harrisburg $80M in lost revenue

Images Tourism Officials at the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) estimate the postponement of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show means $44 million in direct spending from vendors and attendees and $80 million in lost revenue for the local economy. The 22 hotels offering special room rate agreements for show vendors and attendees say the event accounted for approximately 12,000 room-nights over a 10-day period in a traditionally slow tourism season for a region that welcomes 10 million visitors annually. I found out from Joe Termite on a different forum, that the other show is in Fort Washington, Pa., outside of Philly. From some of the news I've seen, many of the companies and outdoors celebrities will be at this show, instead; and many had planned to do so, before the cancellation.
