Being a hostage in this nightmare is a nightmare ! The Algerian government is akin to the Russian government when it comes to dealing with hostage situations. Storm the place and let the dead fall where they stand whether they be the terrotist/hostage takers or the hostages themselves. Great plan huh ??? |

| "The BIG Lie"
The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6]
His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]

Seriously? By the same token, if those in the military get killed in the line of duty- then f*k 'em, they signed up for it? |
|
| The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear. |

none in my family would be so foolish as to go to a foriegn country were these things happen all the time. and if they were so foolish, they would not want the release of a terrorist to save thier own skin.that bozo who was arrested in mexico a few weeks ago for transporting a gun across the boarder is a good example of what I'M talking about. if he had just stayed out of mexico there would not have been an issue.his problems were caused by his own foolish choice |

So if it happened here would you feel the same. I woud be willing to bet if anyone in your family or even yourself were in this situtaion you would NOT be posting as you have. When faced with death especially by a civilian with no military training there is very little to none that woud not want for someone to negogiate for their lives and I would bet this includes you and your family members. WE have all heard those make the statment " They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead fingers ! " but if they are ever faced with this reality I kow without a doubt that most would be more than willing to hand their guns over. It' so very easy to talk the talk but when faced with imminent death it's a whole different ballgame. I find this conversation to be ludicous so this will be my last post on it. |

noone goes to a foriegn country to protect our constitution. hell our own gov doesn't give a chit about our constitution .I believe it's got more to do with getting those that would support our constitution out of the country so when the time is right the U.N.'s troops can move in unopposed.I'M all for protecting our boarders but I do not support fighting foriegn wars such as afgan ,iraq vietnam ,korea. we should have let europe destroy themselves in ww 1and 2. I honestly don't care if they live in a free society or not.nor do I care if they live or die as long as they leave us be.our foriegn policy should be , if you attack the U.S. you will cease to exsist,(we no longer need send our boys overseas, just nuke em) if you do not interfere with our way of life we will do the same. take care of your own countries disasters, wars and economies on your own.we do not need to be the police of the world.as to what my family would do that is thier decision and I cannot speak to that, but I do know none of them would like to see a terrorist released to secure thier own safety and then have said terrorist go out and kill a couple thousand U.S. citizens.a soldier who dies defending our boarders is a HERO but one who fights for another country is at best a pawn and at worst a traitor |

I see both sides in this. I agree that we should only interfere in another country's internal affairs if they pose a threat to the US or one of our true allies, and I also don't believe we should negotiate with terrorists. In this latest situation, I place the entire blame on the Algerian government for not providing proper security when the terror threat was already recognizable. I also agree with yote ( I believe I voiced this here first, which led to me being banned previously) that the US should take advantage of our nuclear arsenal and eliminate terrorist states at the first sign of any terrorist actions against American interests. We have the capability of sending special forces, be it a seal team, or rangers into a situation for the purpose of rescuing our people, or neutralizing the enemy. We shouldn't rely on suspect foreign entities to save American lives in situations such as this. Go in, get our people, and then nuke the hell out of 'em in retaliation! |
