Okay, I always see so many get in a twist about executive orders.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it the executive branch cannot create laws, only the legislative branch can do that. Also as I understand it, executive orders can only enforce, or strengthen an already existing law.

So "if" that is correct, what are the true effects of executive orders???

If it is not correct please enlighten me.

That has always been the accepted definition. Obama; however, has used the Executive Order to by pass the legislative procedure. Especially when he signed several during Congressional Recesses, after facing opposition during the session. Bush actually signed an Executive Order that implemented the beginnings of the Patriot Act that was later approved and passed by both Legislative bodies......almost unanimously, but today's liberal spin uses that action to proclaim that Obama hasn't done anything that Bush didn't do. The difference is that no legislative actions have subsequently validated Obama's orders!!!!! BTW, then Senator Obama voted with the majority in approval of Bush's EO!!!!!!!!!

As a note of Historical significance, Lincoln signed an EO that authorized the draft for the Union Army, prior to Congressional action.  Also, his Emancipation Proclamation was in actuality an EO.

At about 12:15 today, Obama signed 23 EOs that will establish more stringent background checks, a BATFE director, and CDC involvement among other efforts in his push for more gun control. The appointment is a direct affront to Congress and another end run around the legal process, as well as involving the CDC in matters that are not within their legal jurisdiction.

CH, that pretty much flies in the face of the polls the liberal media are showing... But we all know how polls can be manipulated... This one, or theirs

Maybe its me, but, I failed to see anything about the gaming industry and lessoning the violence in their games mentioned anywhere in the EO's or his "gun control to curb violence" proposal. Weren't they crowing about how they were going to address that too as a way to "combat gun" violence? Yeah, yeah, I know....his agenda has always been about the guns. Just thought it was interesting. Scary days are here...

I noticed that the AP claimed that their poll showed that over 80% of Americans are in favor of banning AR-15 style "assault weapons" and "high capacity clips". I'd like to know who that 80% are and where they're located!!!!!! Hell, I had to educate my aunt this morning about what is fact and what is lies. She thought that banning those nasty automatic machine guns and their clips was a good idea!!!!!!! I explained to her that her own 20 gauge S&W shotgun is a semi-automatic and doesn't function any differently than an AR, and that I could put a magazine extension on her gun to make it hold 8 shells, instead of 5.

RT the frist time my mom saw my AR, she ask didn't you get enough of that in the Army. She and my dad gave me and my brother our first .22s for our 12th birthday. Mine was a lever action ( I liked the rifeman), my brothers was a simi- auto, and my first 30-30 at 15. But those guns were differant.
