As far as I have seen, it only applies to assault style rifles. Meaning a rifle with "one" assault style feature which means a pistol grip, etc. Pistols should be safe and all other rifles that don't display a assault feature. But yes, they have one foot in the door, what will be next, pistol grip shotguns?

The bill reads as "assault weapons" Pistol grip stock on a 10/22, or a shotgun? It's now an assault weapon and subject to registration.
Pistols are safe from what? According to the new law 7 rounds is the max that a detachable mag can be loaded with.

Besides, the fact that there is no such thing as an "assault rifle" among the majority of gun owner's possessions. Now this law makes your Mossberg 500 with the pistol grip, illegal and considered an "assault weapon", along with the fact that your Remington 597 and Ruger 10/22 with their 10 round magazines are also illegal!!!!!! All of those 870s and 500s with the thumb hole stocks are also illegal now. Like I've said for years, just what one right will people be willing to surrender, since eventually one restrictive law will lead to total gun bans and confiscation won't be far behind the ban; especially once they find out it's going to be impossible to enforce their new laws!!!!!!!!!
NRA LM, NAHC LM, Buckmasters LM, Second Amendment Foundation, GOA, NAGR, Palmetto Gun Rights, DU, NWTF, QDMA, Everyday Hunter,OYOA, ASAdspalliance,D& DH, and PROUD SC redneck REBEL for life. If the South had won the war, Obama wouldn't be in the White House.

Talk about trying to shake up an industry!!! Could they have come up with a more arbitrary number??? 7 rounds??? Who makes those mags?

My S&W sub compact is a 6 + 1, they've just limited all guns to that capacity. Or is it as some have indicated, and this doesn't address handguns? I don't know what the law specifically states. I do know that the overwhelming number of semi-auto handguns come out of the factory with a larger capacity than 7 rounds. Whether the law includes handguns or not, millions of people have been screwed by NY's new law.

Note I stated "as far as I have seen", now we know the truth.  Heck, even if we chamber a round, and have seven in the clip, we are still screwed!  This is only the begininning to disarm America!  It will go federal soon just watch!
