I use a T/C .50 caliber Penn Hunter carbine and enjoy its compactness, besides it is easy to carry. Just curious as to how many on this Board have a carbine. What is your opinion of it? Also, what do you think is its effective range with the 22 inch barrel? Thanks.

All of my Knight LK rifles have a 22 inch barrel. My White Model 97 and Bison have a 22 inch barrel. Don't underestimate their accuracy. Now I am scoped, but with my scoped short barrels I would shoot out to 150 yards no problem. Without the scope, because of my eyes, I have been limiting myself to 75 yards. Not that I am blind, but things get fuzzy with the bifocals, and then the other lens... so I don't push my capabilities. Has nothing to do with the rifle.

If you have a good accurate load and are a good shot.. and can place your shot, you be the judge of how far you want to shoot.

I appreciate your input. I understand what you mean about the bifocals! You are right that having the right load is important. My question was not so much about the accuracy issue as the foot lbs of energy delivered down range.
