Okay, so in the National Defense Authorization Act there is a section in there that states U.S. citizens can be detained by the military for an indefinite amount of time just upon the premise of suspicion of terrorist-like activities. The writ of habeas corpus does not protect you either, which is unconstitutional (go figure). It also gives the military and law enforcement agencies more power as far as dealing with civilians (am I correct here? Correct me if I'm wrong, please). I'm thinking that has something to do with marshal law.

Apparently the bill is needed for defense funding and other military issues (I wonder what issues those might be? Civilian issues?) I guess it also approves the purchases of defense vehicles and weapon systems. This seems a bit counter-intuitive to me. If Obama is cutting back on military spending as well as reducing our military in size, then why would the bill allow for the purchase of the latter? Maybe those items are not going to be used for overseas military affairs...if you get my drift? I just tend to believe those things are being purchased for use HERE, potentially against us.

If anyone could help shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.

Just scanned it and I think that you are dead on. Pretty damn scary. One could be considered a terrorist if they refused to register a gun. I hope like hell it doesn't come to that, but you never know with the idiots that are in Washington and the people that put Obama in the White house. My father n law said that I would most likely see a revolution in my lifetime, but he thought that it would be over imigration.

Precisely who will decide what actions are linked to terrorism? As for the vehicles, the Feds have to keep GM operating if they ever hope to get any of the TARP money repaid.
NRA LM, NAHC LM, Buckmasters LM, Second Amendment Foundation, GOA, NAGR, Palmetto Gun Rights, DU, NWTF, QDMA, Everyday Hunter,OYOA, ASAdspalliance,D& DH, and PROUD SC redneck REBEL for life. If the South had won the war, Obama wouldn't be in the White House.

I may be mistaken, but isn't, or wasn't that part of the Patriot Act?

Yup, you're right LD. Good call. I believe, however, due to the person sitting in the White House, this section of the NDAA may be a bit more problematic than it was with the Patriot Act. I'll have to do a little research to see if any U.S. citizen was detained in accordance with the Patriot Act for suspected terrorism.

Here's the irony of this DB. When Bush was in office Obama was opposed to this provision of the Patriot Act, yet has allowed the provision to carry on during his presidency... Go figure!!!
