YH, and in both cases, which party controlled both Houses? A POTUS can only succeed in his goals, with the support of Congress, unless he's "backdoor Barry" and just ignores the Constitution. The big difference is if the candidate truly espouses his real intent during the campaign, or if he lies in order to get elected. Just a personal observation here, but I've never heard Obama make a true statement at any time!!!!!!!!!

And if you take a good look at most of the businesses that left the country was not all about taxes .It was the demands of the unions and regulations on them .

Just take a look at CA in particular.They have people relocating out of state because of regulations and higher taxes and the unions .Chevron made it clear to the state that it was in the process of moving it head quarters to Texas .A right to work state and is not ran by the unions .Toyota has already moved most of its operations to TN because of taxes regulations and the unions .Toyota is doing the final shut down here as they had to honor the union contract .That ended the first of this year .500 more CA people out of work .Put the blame where it lye's.

You are correct on the unions. I live in a right to work state. None of the plants in our corporation are unionized. Unions started out for the right thing many years ago, but in my opinion most of them are out of control. With that said, none of the plants in our corporation are unionized. We built a new plant in India. WHY? Cheap labor and most of all the breaks that we, as a corporation, received from our screwed up Federal Government for doing so. My prediction is that we will start to see alot of these jobs that were sent overseas start to return in about 10 years. Alot of the workers overseas are starting to get pissed about the low wages they are receiving. Look at what happened to Apple in China. I just hope that in 10 years that we are not one of the third world countries. Its pretty scary unless the dumba..es in DC pull their heads out.

If the taxes on ordinary people go up very much they may have the unintended result of an increase of bankruptcies. A lot of people are getting along OK but for us on fixed incomes, if costs go up, and they have and income goes down, there may be big problems.

I know abranch as Me and the wife finely got a raise .About 25.00 a month as prices go up .We on fixed incomes are screwed .

Don't forget that medicare co-pays also went up, so in reality the 1.7% Soc. Sec. cola was absorbed by the higher cost associated with medicare; and then let's not forget the way consumer prices have risen. FDR sold the country a bill of goods, LBJ robbed us of our investments, and Obama is working to add to the costs; notice the similarities?

George H.W. Bush did, indeed, say that. He was basically forced to "make a deal" with TIP O'Neal and his merry band of misfits. The deal was "tax increase and spending cuts." (Does this sound familiar?) After the taxes were raised, Bush said, "OK, now for the spending cuts. O'Neal's response was "what spending cuts." The republicans walked right into the same trap. There will be no meaningful spending cuts. Remember, that in Washington speak, REDUCING THE INCREASE counts as a SPENDING CUT.

The young... the sick, the disabled, and the elderly are considered useless to their utopia... they are a drain on their power and wealth!

And did you see what Pelosi had to say about taxes .They will go higher on everybody .But I guess as 47% of their voters don't pay taxes it wont matter any way .

Besides, the Democrats who actually do make money won't pay any taxes since they'll be employed in Government positions where they can evade the tax laws.
