This is a subject that has always baffled me when the FBI releases their latest crime figures and they show that as more states have made it easier for law abiding citizens to get CCW permits crime rates go down and have for the last 10-15 years. One would think that the FBI would get a bit more respect from the other government agency's as well as the anti-gun politicians but that is not the case. They always pick and choose the info that supports their agenda and ignore the facts and figures from one of the best LE agency's in the world. It is not gonna change as they will always use whatever they think will further their agenda of making it harder for the law abiding citizens to obtain firearms and permits for the same.

Boyos-

This is a fallacy. Sometimes I wonder if the antis are feeding you guys misinformation just so guys like me can come along and point out what a load of crap it is. It's the old shuck-and-jive... they parade the rifles (and only the rifles) out against ALL blunt force trauma causes. How 'bout looking at firearms vs. all others?
Here- let's put this myth to bed once and for all...
From the FBI's website...

The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear.

The FBI has no reason to feed us missinformation, to the contrary, with this librel admin., if the did feed us any missinformation, it would be slanted the other way.  This report specifys "Rifle".
At this time, our Admin., is trying to get a bill past to outlaw semi-auto rifles., not hammers/clubs etc., which have killed more of our citizens then the "Rifle"
Indeed, firearms in general, includeing hand guns is a differant story, but our so called "assault rifle" ban specifys "rifle", alltho, it does also include certain semi-auto handguns.

YH:

This is not mis-information or fallacy.  The title clearly states RIFLES not all firearms.  Rifles or AR-15 type weapons which are at the center of trhe debate WHICH WILL EXPAND to ALL firearms are not high in criminal use.

Like I said- it's the old shuck-and-jive. Give a partial stat that supports your cause- unfortunately, that will make people realize "Holy crap- they're right- it's HANDGUNS we should be banning..."
FYI- you cannot assume that a ban on "assault" rifles will expand to all firearms. That's a huge, huge jump.
The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear.

It's only shuck&Jive if your a dolt and can't read or comprehend what you are reading. Title and story refer to rifles and I assume it was written that way not to mislead overall firearms deaths, but to specifically note that the so called "assualt" rifles with high capacity magazines are not the "weapon of choice" and that the number of deaths caused by these firearms are lower than other means of homicide.

This article has appeared numerous times in Conservative- biased media, so your comment about dolts needs no further explanation.

Now, I'm certainly not in the liberal camp - nor in the hard conservative one either but the link YH posted from the fbi site clearly says 'firearms' on the column header which would include all guns. I agree that rifle attacks are limited though.
Due to the high cost and unavailability of ammo today do not expect to get a warning shot!!
