There is no question that it's about taxation!! But you can't get gays to admit it!!!

If they came clean, rather than the BS about them loving each other, they might get more sympathy from those tired of government theft by taxation!
"The BIG Lie" The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6] His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]

I don't disbelieve those who claim that they are in love, I just don't believe that love is the reason they want to get married. How many straight couples live together without the formality of a wedding? How many who are married, did so for the tax benefits, but otherwise would still just be cohabiting?

My wife and I got married because we loved each other and wanted to raise a family... never did taxation come into our thoughts.

I do believe gays are mainly  interested in the benefits married heterosexuals have with taxation and other benefits. While I'm sure they have feeling towards each other, civil unions don't give them what they really want... the special benefits Congress and the IRS have given those heterosexuals that are legally married.

Flat tax would level the field for everyone.

would you also forbid two people with Down's Syndrome from marrying?

I have no problem with it, as long as they are able to be responsible and support their offspring... but I'm sure you bleeding hearts will argue that taxpayers should be responsible for the poor decisions that parents make.

ckell-
I don't believe it could be classified as a birth defect- like, say, abject stupidity.
Now, that said, would you also forbid two people with Down's Syndrome from marrying?

Well Yukon there you go again, to steal a line from Reagan. You just cannot help yourself; you say you are a Socialist so that explains a lot, Liberal added to that. Maybe not all liberals and socialist call those who disagree with them Stupid, Ignorant, or Bigoted but it does seem to set a theme. Try to make those who would debate you on your opinion feel guilty, somehow.

There has been some study on gay and lesbian behavior, it is limited study, due to many gays do not wish to be in a study. That has been attributed to they fear another stigma added to one they already have, held by many. That brings up, is it a choice or are they truly gay. I have friends I have known since first grade, they started to know they were different as puberty approached, they did not know or understand why they felt the way they did. To them it was not a choice. Now I am not saying or calling gay, criminal. But a criminal chooses to be a criminal; they know the hard ships of be a criminal. So the minority who choose to be gay know the hardships they must face, one being their relationships are not recognized as normal, and other than a personal liberty, have no other legal status.

I have no problem with people who have Downs getting Married, However most do not, due to the complications of Downs, one being few live longer than past their teens, better understanding and Treatment is helping them live much longer now, than in the past.

Better understanding and Treatment of what causes people to be gay may help find a cure. Being gay has been misunderstood for a long time, much like so many other mental disorders. But the minority who are gay, unlike other mental disorders, are intelligent people who have no functional disabilities in society. And it is easy to understand why they would not want to know or be known and understood for what it is, a mental disorder, which would another type of stigma. Instead they prefer to call anyone who would suggest it, as being Stupid, Ignorant, and discredit those who will not go along with them, they hide behind that Vail instead of seeking the truth.

Now, wait a minute... in one post, you bemoan special privileges for certain groups... yet, in another, you say that what Gay couples want is "special benefits Congress and the IRS have given those heterosexuals that are legally married". So, again- do you think it's okay for YOUR special interest group to have that benefit? Why not give everyone the same right?
ck-
I'll admit it- maybe that was uncalled for. My apologies. That said, I find it infuriating that anyone in this day and age would refer to being Gay as a "birth defect"or a "mental illness". FYI, the American Psychological Association determined 40 years ago that being Gay is not a mental illness.
There is growing scientific evidence showing that sexual orientation is determined in the womb, probably due to a combination of genetic and hormonal factors. Sexual orientation is more akin to handedness: sure a left-handed person can be trained to write with their right hand, but that doesn't make them a right-handed person.
Additionally, biologists have reported homosexual activity in the animal kingdom, including pair bonding of males. Such things are unlikely to occur if homosexuality was a human choice or the result of an overbearing mother as is often theorized.
Here's a perfect analogy- should we stop left-handed people from getting married, as well?
The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear.

YH... if you read what I wrote, I said a flat tax is in order and would simplify and level the playing field for all. The tax codes in this country are so ridiculous , even the IRS doesn't understand them!

To be honest... no one cares what I think or for that matter you!

You are right there was a study that showed a species of Penguin who once they lost their mate did seem to pair bond with other like males. Animals do at times show signs of Homosexuality, but is more related to being in heat, estrus than being homosexual, Yes studies have shown there may be a connection between high or low levels of estrogen or testosterone in the womb that cause changes in the Pituitary gland at the base of the brain. Studies though limited show homosexual man to have smaller than normal pituitary glands than heterosexual males, as it shows larger than normal in lesbians. The pituitary gland or the master gland regulates and secrets nine different hormones to different other glands in the body, including sex hormones. Chemical and/or Hormonal imbalances in the womb play a role in many birth defects If it happens in the womb before birth and it is abnormal, and causes abnormalities in orof the body or behavior what else would you call it, other than a birth defect. Pituitary Giantism, or Dwarfism. Those are birth defects, so other than denial what else would you call it. Liberals tend to label anyone who disagrees with them with as many derogatory names as they can, with the hope one of those names or stereotypes stick, and or discredit those who are in disagreement with them. Calling anything by a more PC name does not change what it is.

I don't guess you can see the irony in that statement, given that you refer to homosexuality as a "mental disorder" and a "birth defect". They don't need to be "cured", any more than someone with blue eyes instead of brown needs to be "cured".
My God, man... try to keep up. It's not a defect. And who, exactly, gets to define what "normal" is?

I'm not ripping on you, but would like to point out that this is the "Miscellaneous" forum. They don't talk about hunting in every forum on this site, though there are plenty of forums provided by the site where we do talk hunting.

I know there are many members here that don't care for such discussions, and that's fine. Most don't bother reading this particular forum. I know many members that I correspond with in the Minnesota forum rarely if ever post in this forum.

I'm not telling you what to do, but if such discussions are distasteful to you, you may spare yourself a few blood pressure points by steering clear of this forum, because sometimes it ain't pretty here. Many of the regular's in this forum come here to debate such issues, and are happy that the site has provided a forum where we can.

Ahhhh, nope, don't see any irony in calling a spade a spade. I am not attempting to insult anyone, hurt anyones feelings, show where they are any less inteligent, or are evil. It is not found in nature, perhaps normal is the wrong word. Birth defects are normal in nature, but that is what they are birth defects. Not calling anyone names here or implying anything. But you can call chit by any other name you wish, but it is still chit, and has the same smell. You said it your self, studies show it happens in the womb, hormonal imbalances in the womb before birth, which causes a change in the brain, from what is concidered a normal brain. Ok maybe not birth defect, how about in the womb before birth defect. There seems to be a cause of Homosexuality in the womb, before birth, that happens to a small precentage of people, out of those who have natural (normal) opposite sex drive, desires and relationships. Should we stop looking for cures, for other abnormalies, that happen in the womb. There may not be a cure for those who are gay now. But if they find what causes it and can make  the changes that would not cause the differance in the brain, would that not be a cure of sorts?

You don't get it. Offer a homosexual a "cure" and they'll tell you where to inject it.
I again off er you same comparisons... some people are left handed, some are right. Some people have blue eyes, some have brown. Some people are straight, some are gay.
It's not a defect, or a disease. It's a difference.

You can't change how someone is reincarnated! And NO, I do not follow the Hindu beliefs of reincarnation. I believe there are only a limited number of spirits (souls for you Christians), and those spirits have to be recycled, thus reincarnation! As a spirit is about to be reborn, it may be a male spirit but for some reason it becomes imbedded into a female fetus, or vice versa, which results in a homosexual being born. It's not a birth defect, it's not an abnormality, and it's certainly not a choice, it's maybe best considered as an accident of birth.

It's not a defect, or a disease. It's a difference.

Blue or Brown eyes are a trait, having to do with genes. We have established there are no gay genes. Now you speak of left handed vs right handed. First off I am Left handed, and if you look at some studies into Left handed People, I may have a birth defect. As, It has also been suggested or connected to hormonal imbalances in the womb. Some studies even suggest a high number of sonograms while in the womb may have some influence on being Left Handed. While others suggest it maybe a learned preference, from a family member who teaches and is left handed. Now seeing as how when I was in the womb, and sonograms were rarely used, My mother never had one in fact. So it would narrow it down to hormonal imbalance. Or a gene, trait, or learned preference. Seeing as how my mother is lefthanded and my bother is also Left Handed. My mother had the same influence on myself, my brother as well as my sister, who is right handed. This would limit the suggestion on the learned preference, with a twist in that I use my right hand for some things, most true lefties do not.

The percent of left handed people world wide is estimated at 10%, the percentage of gays world wide and in the US is estimated around 3.5%, lets round that up to 5%. With 90% vs 10% and 95% vs 5% of the world being different, which would be considered normal.

In some cultures both Left handed and gay are taboo. I have visited one of those cultures where left handed was taboo, so I have a little insight into that. Left handed people live in a right handed world. Gays live in a straight world as well.

If There is no gay gene, trait, so would it be a learned preference, or possibly due to hormonal imbalances in the womb, which effects development of the brain, as also suggested in left handed people as well. There have been no laws enacted for left handed people, which can be at times a handicap, because so many things are right hand preferences. We adapt and over come to the right handed world. We are a small percentage of the world, and do not demand the world change for us. As the gays demand laws and the world change for them. Yukon, I am sure you will have some sarcastic remark, when I say for what ever reason my brain is wire a little different than 90% of the population, as well as are gays brains wired differently from 95% of the population. Gays want laws changed, to have their small percentage (5%) recognized as a normal or natural behavior.

I might add. Left handed Honor Guard, while in the Military, I was a member of the Honor Guard, on the rifle squad/firing party. The Honor Guard has traditions as how the rifle is handled, manipulated and presented. The rifle is referred to as a Rifle or a Weapon, not a Gun. It is handled with the right hand, I will not speculate as to which hand I handle my gun with and unless one were gay not a concern or a need to know. I adapted to handle the rifle with precision in my Right hand. As far as I know active duty Honor Guard as well as Veterans groups with Honor Guard, still handle the Rifle right handed and have not changed to accommodate Left Handed people who wish to participate
