This is, and always has been, one of my favourite sites (along with Snopes). I believe them to be truly non- partisan... they don't tell people what they want to hear, they just tell people the facts...

The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear.

Well I seen on the news today about another theater shooting that never made the news about the same time as the on in Colorado .The shooter was taken down by someone in thr theater at the time .She was an off duty sheriff deputy .There was no killings at that one even after the shooter had fired off 30 rounds .The sheriff deputy was give the medal of valor for what she did .This never made the main stream media because there were no deaths involved . That type of things never make the MSM .

How about when Florida made it easier to get your ccp? Papers predicted a bloodbath and said that seniors with bad eyes would never hit their target and innocent bystanders would be killed. etc. Turns out crime against the elderly and women dropped drastically. Then the criminals realized that international tourists would not be armed and the crime rate against them skyrocketed.

Also citing FBI official #s, more people are killed with hammers and baseball bats than firearms. So are they going to ban building ballparks?

What a crock of feces... people commit crime.  Guns only happen to be the instrument for their avenue of crime. I'll know when this world is finally on a path from insanity, when someone in the MSM actually blames the perpetrator instead of an object.

I'd like to see data on the increase in crime since Obama tool office... I'll bet there's a higher degree of correlation when the economy of any country is being dragged down by its incompetent leaders. I can assure you that incompetence isn't owned by just the Democratic Party in this country.
"The BIG Lie" The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6] His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]

Steel-
First Statement- somewhat true, but misleading.
Since 1987, when the must-issue law came into effect, the murder rate in Florida dropped from 11.4/ 100,000 to 5.2/100,000. Nationally, it dropped from a high of 9.8 (1991) to 4.8.
The percentage of drops are similar- to infer that the violent crime rate has dropped due to the ccw is misleading.
Second Statement-False.
In 2011, the official FBI numbers for homicides were as follows...

Firearms- 67.8%
Blunt Objects (hammers, baseball bats, etc.)-3.9%

Bad stat.
The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear.

YH, did you notice the part about attacks on tourists dramatically increased during that time? If you only count attacks on Floridians the violent crime rate dropped much lower.

As for the murder rate I made a mistake, it was rifles vs hammers/clubs. Sorry, fingers and mind not cooperating being on muscle relaxers and morphine.

You too? I went for a morphine shot on Sunday, and now I'm on T3's and flexiril. Torn Rotator.

Get a copy of John Lott's "More Guns, Less Crime" and read it. Pure statistics you could understand and trust.

Micro tear in rotator and tricep, strained deltoid, strained trapezius, and pinched nerve. Learned a valuable lesson, never allow mental midgets help move a huge ass refrigerator off a truck if they are going to drop it on you. Either that or don't catch it, GTFO of the way! Anti inflamatories (methylprednisolone), muscle relaxers (cyclobenzaprem) and pain killers (morphine) have been on the menu this week. Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

Torn rotator, two herniated discs in back, both knees torn meniscus.
Lesson 1- don't take steroids.
Lesson 2- don't wrestle with every jackass inmate when you're a Corrections Officer.

I actually found the morphine didn't have much effect- the T3's and Flexeril help, though.
(p.s.- all of these products and services are provided at no charge, thanks to Canada's Healthcare system. Yay.)
The REAL truth of the matter is- most people don't want the truth. They want what they want to hear.
