We are driving to Texas from New Jersey. Looking at the map there are several states that I might hunt in for mule deer. If anybody can help me with this I would appreciate it. The states are Texas. Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas.  Hell, I do not even know if there are mule deer in these states.

No mulies in Arkansas. Only whitetails there. The others have mulies but finding a place to hunt them may be difficult. TX has almost no public land and if you want to hunt mulies you probably need to look in the western part of that state and you're gonna pay big money for the chance to hunt them there. OK is mostly whitetail country but there are some mulies but they are mostly found on private land. KS has some great deer and some huge mulies in the northen half. A fair amount of public land but the better bucks come off private land there.

If I was looking for a place to hunt mulies, I wouldn't look at any of the states you've listed. If you are serious about muiles, then go where there are lots of them. I'd look to Colorado (my home state) Wyoming, New Mexico, Montana, Idaho, or Utah in that order. All of those states have the right habitat and produce a lot of deer. Colorado has more mulies in the record book than any other state if that sort of thing is important to you.

Thank you for your post. The Harrisburg Pa. show is in several weeks. Will be going for a over nighter. Will be picking up brochuers.
